Ah, no, not the optical drives (cd or dvd drives) - the hard drives where the data is kept. How many of those do you have?
2
the smaller one i use to install the C drive with windows on it, it's only 10 GB
and the other one is 40 gb (D )
OK, but neither of them are scsi drives - they are ata ide drives. First try updating the drivers by going into device manager, double click on each driver, select the driver tab and click the update driver button. Allow windows to search everywhere including the internet. Does it update the drivers?
If not, boot to safe mode and go into device manager, uninstall both drives and then reboot to normal mode... did that work?
oki i tried updating it 1st but it didnt want to so i ran it in safe mode and uninstaled them and ran it again now in normal mode and now in the device manager under disc drives it says:
ST310212 A SCSI Disc Device
ST340211 1A SCSI Disc Device
i think thats what was suppouse to happen, right?
err no, since neither of them are scsi devices.
It really isn't playing fair. Do you have your windows cd? I think a repair install is in order. here is how to do that The warnings are there to say that this usually goes right but sometimes goes wrong. You (hopefully) have your data on the 40 gb drive, so only the programs on c: drive may be affected.
Having said that, I have yet to have a repair install that mucked up other programs. I think it's the safest way forward at this point. You will need to do all the windows updates again after the repair has completed.
