Try putting SmartBridge in a search. i.e. start>search>click files folders>enter SmartBridge>then click search
RE: Procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library. PSAPI.DLL (I too started getting error after installing IE 7 beta)
I tried the process of using sfc /scannow using my XP Pro SP2 disk, it went through checking all files however upon rebooting, problem remained.
******* :)
What did work was uninstalling SmartBridge using it's uninstall exe file
I did a search on "smart" found the Smartbridge folder and used the uninstall file found there. rebooted, bingo, no error. can't seem to notice anything not working, guess i didn't really need it to begin with.
After uninstalling SmartBridge, I rebooted three times now without getting any errors...
As far as not finding folder, remember to enable [search hidden folders] and [subfolders] prior to search.
Tried this and it worked. Thanks for the info. Except go to BT Broadband Desktop Help folder under C:/ program filesQuote:

Hi, I had the exact same problem after downloading IE 7. Simple solution....uninstall IE 7. Problem solved!!
I will download IE 7 only when I know that all issues have been resolved. In the meantime I will carry on with IE 6 as before.
This seems to be a common problem, mine occurred when I downloaded IE7 and so far ihave been unable to correct it. I have found 2 versions of psapi.dll one in system32 and another in the affected program file a diagnostic tool from my iSP ntlworld.com called 'Broadband Medic'; for some reason, which I can't figure out the program cannot access either file even though I tried renaming the affected files in turn. The Microsoft help desk believe it or not said that they were unfamiliar with Internet Explorer 7 and could not help with this problem.
I found the outdated psapi.dll in four places in Program Files. Three were under Verizon and one was under Motive. I changed them all to psapiOLD.dll and then rebooted. The annoying message at bootup disappeared. This message appeared intermittenly even before I upgraded to IE 7.0. Thanks for the help from other posters!!!
Hi USELESS and a few others
This is my first time also. I have the same error. I tried the solution posted by STUINN but I still got the error message. The good news is that I haven't found a program (YET) that doesn't work. It's just a pain to have to click OK to the message every time I switch on.
By the way I found the file in Motive/Common. I haven't tried all the other ideas yet -- maybe tomorrow?
I would be happy to revert to IE6. How do I do this?
welcome to Windrivers steambuff
There should be in add/remove programs the ability to remove IE7 - it should then automatically roll back to IE6
Hi, I was having the dreaded psapi.dll message as well, tried the method suggested by stuinn and it worked a treat, I found the file in broadjump (part of NTL broadband medic) and just renamed as suggested, and bingo upon reboot no annoying message.
My first post here and I think this site is superb.
Kind Regards
Barrie
I had this error pop up after installing Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP Home, too. I have a Verizon DSL connection to the internet, and I found the PSAPI.DLL file giving me the problem under: C:\Program Files\Verizon Online\Help Support\Smartbridge\psapi.dll.
After renaming this file psapi.old, and rebooting the computer, the problem disappeared! Thanks to all for steering me in the right direction!!!

Glad this thread helped you out.
Thank you NooNoo. I did try finding all instances of PASPI.DLL and renamed them all but I still got the error when I relogged on. I am a bit concerned about "it should then automatically roll back to IE6". I would hate to lose my browser.
