OK I just removed the Nvidia IDE driver, not the video or pci system drivers.

and has the screen corruption gone? Is it still hanging?
Nothing yet, but after I uninstalled the driver and rebooted from safe mode, I noticed that in the administrator logs it says something about a controller error on device\hardisk0\dQuote:

It just froze, I was doing a file search.
I'm sorry for being so rude, I'm very thankful you guys are helping me, thank you very very much.
Does this mean you have your page file in the second partition ('D' maybe) of the boot drive ('C').Quote:

If this has no bearing, then ignore it. :)
Ok, I'll be more specific sorry.Quote:

(I just copied down the relevant info)
Event:ID 11
Type: Error

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D
(end of what the system log says)
this error recurred at 12:39PM,(12:)46,47:17ms,47:20ms,55:25ms and 36ms.
Sorry for the confusion. Oh and CCT my page file is on my C: drive I have no clue whats going on.
OK, so your sata controller is having a fit...now it may be because of the drivers you did have installed. You need to see if that error gets repeated since you have loaded the windows drivers. If it does, then go to the Asus site and download the sata drivers from there.
Ok, you're saying that I need to wait for the BSOD error then continue from there? so I should Ignore the system log errors for now?Quote:

no, I said, watch for log errors for the sata drives from the point that you changed the drivers back to windows drivers. If you get further log errors, then get the recommended drivers from Asus rather than going to nVidia for the drivers.
Sounds like you should back up your data . wipe your c drive and reload Windows, there may be some data corruption on your OS drive due to the paging errors
I have the same board and only got those errors when I had a WD raptor 36 gig drive combined with a seagate 'cuda 200 gig drive
And this was with the earlier nvidia chipset drivers, I cleared the probelm up by uninstaling the IDE driver , but the newer version seam to work fine,I think the latest drivers for our board is 6.86 and Asus is dropping support for this board, I have to use a beta bios so I can use my 7950 gx 2 video card
While your reloading make sure you install the latest nvidia drivers for your 7800
I know it is a lot of work to reformat, these big drives take a long time to format , do not use the quick format option, grab a soda while you format :mult:
I tried Noo-Noo but the drivers won't work they said no Nvidia hardware found?Quote:

Format C:(haha quite a pun  )
What do you mean they are ending support for our board? is this normal for most motherboard manufactures? I think I will have to reformat my drive, this is one crazy problem. Until I get a reply I'll try redownloading the drivers.
I think you just proved to yourself you have a hardware fault in the controller.Quote:

Our pleasure... Best if you post them in a new thread - assuming the faults are unrelated.
