[RESOLVED] Things you wish you could get away with...

Hate to break it to you BS_Tech_Spec, but it sucks down here. Palm Beach county doesn't have all the stupid people we got a good amount, the Tampa/St. Petersburg area has the worst road rage rate in the US (read really shi**y drivers), it's 95 with 95% humidity in the summer, and Tampa has got the most corrupt, lazy bastards in City Hall that I have ever had themisfortune to despise. Nice beaches and good football though.

The only type of enduser I want to unleash my temper upon would be the ones that assume I'm stupid becouse of my gender. The rest of them keep food on my table and the bills paid.

Be able to ware my duster in public.
Ware my hand guns in public.

Make it mandatory to license people if they want to use\own a computer, just like /w guns. Let Techs be able to revoke licenses.

Get the damn Old Fogies Off my Back, I’m tired of 80yr old people staring at me /w a “Should that youngster (17) be touching those computers” face. Old people one of the worst, they always start off with this line, “Ohh I’d love to pick your brains, and learn what you know”

23yr old New York yuppies that stumble in and act like they know every damn thing, one thing they all have in common is they never travel alone, they always come /w a friend that knows less then them.

People that walk up to me and start talking “Tough day? I know what its like, Yeah I’m thinking of getting my A+ Cert, Yeah I know I’m going to be a tech, what books should I read?” *** I never said one word, yet the conversation kept going ***

Why don’t people understand, I don’t give a damn about their trivial problems, I can’t put pictures of my cat on my desktop why? “Because you don’t have a digital camera/scanner to input the pictures,” you mean it doesn’t happen automatically?

I love talking to Boss’s of other computer shops, its always clear that they don’t know WTF their talking about, much less what they even sell. I’m just grateful I have a boss that understands computers.

I wish I had the courage to tell the customers, well your hard drive is bad, sorry can’t do anything about it, you should have backed up all your data. Rather I do a 20hr Overnight scan to try and fix/recover their information. **Shrug** I had one person crying on my bench because he lost all his info and another tell me he was going to sue me and the company I work for because of his data loss? My response, it’s a Compaq /w a 5.4” Quantum HD, and you paid $500 for the system, what are you complaining about.

I wish that I could just have a simple system where by, customer comes in, clearly fills out a sheet /w their contact info, and a detailed description of the problem, then leaves, waits for us to call back in 1-2days, picks up their computer, pays for it, and leaves.

Instead I get
Customer comes in, walks over to me, asks me a bunch of questions unrelated to the problem /w their computer. After a wasted 20min fills out a sheet /w their contact info, with the description of, “Its Broken”, then when asked to further elaborate, “The lights don’t go on”, then leaves, 20min l8r gets home and calls, “Is my computer done yet?”, What’s the Invoice #?, “2233”, forcing us to look up an invoice in a pile of 100 invoices, then only to hear the response, “yeah I know I brought it in 20min ago, but I want to know if it was looked at?” This continues on the hour every hour.. I fix the computer, 25min l8r I get the phone call, is it done yet? “yes it is”, are you sure I’ve been calling for the past 5hrs. They come in pick up the computer and then proceed to ask me what was wrong, when they have no idea WTF im talking about even when I try and elaborate further. Then they always interrupt me saying, okay stop hold on, does it work now, “yes”, that’s all I wanted to know (thinking to myself, then why did you ask)

The worst are people that bring their computer in, change their address & phone number, then call back 1-3years later saying yeah I left a computer their a while back, no one called or said anything and was wondering if its been looked at?

We have 8 computers that none of the owners have picked up, we don't know what to do /w them, if we throw them out then if the customer asks for them what do we say, "we threw out your computer?"
No Shows are the worst because their computer takes up valuable space that could be better used elsewhere, we should charge them for rental of space in their leave of absence.

Ummm so if Santa Claus is out there, I want to be able to have an arsenal of weapons like in Quake3, and then chase after all the people that annoy me on a daily base’s, hunt them down, beat the living **** out of them, then gib their bodies into a million pieces.

I really resent the remark that Tampa officials are the most corrupt. I live in Providence, Rhode Island and WE have the most corrupt politicians. Did your mayor put out a cigarette in his then wife's lovers eye HMMMMM? Did said mayor (Buddy Cianci) also get convicted and because he was a felon, not be able to run for mayor for 7 years and then, when he could, he gets reelected again by a bunch of old farts? Are your city officials being investigated ,indicted and even convicted for giving tax breaks for bribes? I didn't think so. So come to RI, enjoy the corruption and have a Del's lemonade. I live near Washington, DC, so, um, yeah they do get convicted and serve jail time and then get re-elected by a landslide.
