I have yet to spot any custom avatar for a user with a {space} in the name (e.g. IT Len, Lt. Cmdr Klarg) I think that may be the explanation for these two.

Thanks for the earlier replies, Sowulo...

I'm getting a message that the file IT_Len.gif "already exists." When I try to upload without the space [remembering to get the case right], I get an error message that tells me it has to be in the above mentioned format, up to and including the underscore.

I'm assuming Lt.Com Klarg and I have the same problem here. I've PM'd WD for assistance.

Just upload the GIF if you uploaded a JPG by accident. That's the mistake I made and simply re-uploading my avatar in GIF format worked just fine.

I've tried to upload the .gif file but I get this message: "The file "professadainty.gif" already exists on our server. For your information you can only upload your avatar ONCE. If you want to change avatar select other avatar from dropdown menu."

Now, the question remains, how do can I upload a new avatar if I've already (mistakenly) uploaded a jpeg. Obviously uploading a gif file with the same file name does not work. Thanks in advance... https://forums.windrivers.com/

It seems that you had also uploaded a *.GIF at some point.

I also did that and had to request a removal of the files so that I could upload another.

It would seem that people with spaces in their name have problems with custom avatars. We dont have the option even though we uploaded correctly. I guess I'll just stick with the invisible man https://forums.windrivers.com/

If you originally uploaded a GIF, then you will have to request Scott to delete it (look at Danimal's post for e-mail address).

If you uploaded a JPG, then you might still be able to upload a GIF without Scott's intervention.

It has to be a GIF file, not a JPG or BMP or anything else.

Once that's done, you'll see your custom avatar in the drop-down list. You will have to wait until the UBB hacks have been brought back before you can do this now.

All this info has been given before in this thread.

I seemed to have lost my Custom Avatar which was working in my signature as recently as last week. It was one which I had uploaded to WinDrivers. Now, it can't seem to find it. My guess is that Scott deleted these...

Has anybody else had these same problems?

I also had my avatar pull a disappearing act on me...

But I found it again!

Try replacing this link **http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/avatars/custom/DonJ.gif**
with this one **http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/noncgi/avatars/custom/DonJ.gif**

If you did not catch that, replace the "1" with a "3".

It worked for me.
