Sub-titled all the way. I ALWAYS buy anime on DVD so I can use the Japanese sound track and English subtitles. Not only are the tranlations usually better, but Japanese voice actors tend to be much better than their American counterparts. They seem to put much more emotion and energy into their work.Quote:

No one has mentioned Voltron! That was one of my favorites when I was a kid. Watched it every chance I got. The vehicle Voltron kinda sucked, but the Lion Voltron was pretty cool.
The recent 3D-ized version sucked boulders, though. Especially disappointing without the cool "Form Blazing Sword" sequence.

Dragonball/DBZ...the pits....the fools in the club showed the same episode of it for 6 straight weeks....after club members threatening the dismemberment of the club leadership...they wised up...and started to show Bubblegum Crisis....one of the best Anime series I have seen...even have the DVD set now(Christmas gift from a friend).
Be careful, there's actual 2 DVD sets out. A red boxe which has the first half of the series and a blue boxe which is the second half. Each box contains something like 4-5 DVDs and costs around $160-$200.Quote:

BTW - I prefer the Japanese language with subtitles. I find on DVD's the sound is Dolby 5.1 instead of 2 channel stereo(On the english dubs)

Oh and for the person who didn't recognize a lot of the anime being listed; that's not suprising. If you don't follow anime; you have to wait for the US companies to release it commercially. If you do follow anime, then you're probably getting what are known as fan-subs. These are kinda grey-market tapes. A fan obtains the video (preferable on LD or DVD) and subtitles it themselves. Then they distribute the video usually for the cost of the tape plus shipping.

Americans firebomb a town killing mom of 2. Boy and girl go to live with psycho aunt who kicks them out. Little girl starves to death and boy goes insane with guilt and malnutrition and dies. Oh, the dad was in the navy and you get told near the end that he is dead too.
It was really good but I have to go watch something happy and mindless like barney or something to clear my mind. Damn.
