There's a flip side to it as well:

D's: Kerry served in Vietnam, he has the Purple Hearts to prove it.
R's: OK, so let's see his record to see what he got them for.
D's: No, it's not an issue.
R's: Why not? Bush's record is open, why not yours?
D's: This is just a right-wing attack.

D: Kerry's against "Benedict Arnold" corporations who send jobs overseas.
R: Then why does Heinz corporation have 57 out of 72 plants located overseas?
D: This is another right-wing attack.

D: Kerry's a "man of the people"
Me: Most people can't afford 4 luxury homes purchased with the Wife's income, go skiing in Aspen, and have all their medical needs taken care of at premiere hospitals at taxpayer expense, buddy.

You know that I am on your side in most of this argument, but I find it highly unlikely that a Corporal in the USMC is the resident spokesman for the Marine Corps with respect to this find. Sounds to me like an early release breaking story where this guy was the first interviewed at the camp. I like to think that a comprehensive investigation went one, and a field grade officer (Major through Colonel) was interviewed as a follow up to the story. It's almost a year old, are there any follow-ups?

That's a valid question...and no, I haven't been able to find any follow-ups to that store yet.

This was the reason for going to war.

Yes, there are/was breakdowns in what the intelligence community was saying about WMDs but nonetheless, we had to find out...and find out now. Not wait until something happens and then have some nimrod like Clarke write a book telling how they screwed up.
