Noob here, same board.
For what it is worth I think the voltage out on the LED lines is high. After 6 months of running fine on a different board the case I put the new MoBo in now has a burned out LED. They were the same color and then the power LED began to change. Now it wont work at all. When I replace it Im going to throw an "extra" resistor in just to be sure.

I myself just gave up, the folks I got the board from in the states won't respond to e-mails. Just gonna chuck the board. Too bad I didn't read this stuff before I bought the board. lesson learnt.
Mine loaded 2K perfect the first time out, only problem Im having is trying to set up the local network IPs. I have never used 2K so the learning curve is a bit steep.
Once again for what it is worth I found a post using the MSI bios that would allow an XP @ 2800 to run fine all day long.

I wonder if the Bi-Color led function has anything to do with the over voltage?

Well.........after several hours of searching the Msi website & several BIOS site..I finally wound up here & at least got the Gateway link that gives me the pinout for the front panel! Thank you for that--I dunno about this board tho..??
I put in a 512 stick of PC100 & it calls it PC133 & there's no adjustment available(I HATE Gateway type Bios!!) so I don't know if the fact that it locks up after posting & detecting H/W is related to the memory timing or what.....by this time I'm not even sure I care.
This is 'sposed to be a giveaway system for a friend - I figured a Athlon 950 w/ 512 sdram & a cheapo 32 meg AGP card would be a ok starter system for someone that never had a PC. But GEEEZZZ!!! What a pain this sucker is turnin out to be!

Suggest you change the single stick of 512 for 2x256
memtest86 here is a good ram checker, will make a bootable cd or diskette. Let it run for at least 7 full tests per stick/slot
Nah..never makes it to reading the floppy drive. I got a good 128mb stick of Mushkin PC133 tho--might stick that in there & see if it gets any farther.

Does anyone have a list on the exact processors it will take? I know it doesn't like XP processors, or generally anything faster than 1200 megahertz.
As a side note, the motherboard cooked a K7 Athlon 1.2 GHZ processor that was supposed to be compatible.
Yes, from what I understand, it is possible to change the flash from ami to award.... but you need to get Ruslan and/or Garak's opinion on that.Quote:

Other versions (MS-6330 LE3) do show higher processor compatibility, but do not be fooled - msi has a nasty habit of using the same model number for very different boards.
If that K7 you tried was the 133 version, it wouldn't have worked.... but it shouldn't have cooked it.

Hm. It was the 266 version. Plugged it in with the heatsink, powered it on, and next thing I know I see a wisp of smoke and smell that distinct aroma.

Did you reset the CMOS jumper when you reflashed the BIOS? if not, do it. should make all your problems go away :devil:

Hi everyone !
Let me first start off by saying what a great forum this is. You all rock.
I just received this mobo today to replace the k7t pro that went bad. I got it installed and low and behold....no video. I tried a different monitor....nothing....i tried a pci vid card....nothing. So, after looking through this thread, i tried to see what would happen when i disconnected everything, including the ram....and still NOTHING. No beeps....just a whole lotta nothing.
So, unless you have some steller ideas to try, i think i'm gonna call the company from where i ordered it, and see if i can send it back.
Sure wish i would have discovered this site before i bought the dang thing !

I have only found the 1 jumper, right beside the fan connector a few inches/centimeters from the button cell battery. Tried all 3 positions (1-2,2-3 and no jumper) makes no difference. It posts and then goes to the bios string page (no 2 color bios setup page) and hangs. Looks like I may have toasted it. Any ideas?
Could I be missing "solder points"

Well, the person that gave me the 400watt PS said it was good. I personally didnt check it ( he told me that it was out of a brand new computer, and the only reason why it was changed out was because the guy who removed it said the fan was to noisy). But I will check it anyways, thanks.
As far as the old mobo, well, 2 of the capasitors (at least I think thats what they are called...looks like a cylindrical thing sticking up from the mobo), went bad....the tops of them looked like they leaked ( a brown crust fromed on the top of them). The computer wouldnt even boot up with the old mobo, thats why i got the new PSU thinking it was that before i noticed the capasitors.
Anywho, i'll check that tonight when i get home from work. I'll post after i check, i'm sure i'll have more questions later...hehe

Try to replace those two capacitors - if you're lucky and nothing else is blown, there are some good chances your an old MB will work again...Quote:

Well, I tested the PS, and have power on pin 9, 5.09V steady on it, and pin 14 that has 4.13V on that. All the rest dont have power. I'm getting into an area where I don't go very often, so I'm a little skidish :uke: about coming to a conclusion on this. Any thoughts? Is the PSU bad?

Take a look at Ruslan's BIOS recovery tips - if your PC will boot from the floppy, it may be worth looking at flashing the BIOS back to the original.Quote:

Im having the same problem as joek --- yet i bought the mobo upgrading a older 450mhz (atx) to a newer 800mhz duron comp.
Once the mobos were swaped and power turned on video and all showed i went into Bios, i had 2 ram chips in (1x 128 in dimm 2 and 1x 256 in dimm 1). it didnt see the larger chip so i powered down the system and went to fix that problem.
well now no matter how i configure the ram the motherboard wont respond. No ram causes beeps over and over. the K/B leds never blink. ive tried over 10 ram chips most of which came out of working computers. Now i would believe it being a dead mobo or proc. but it WORKED ... i even saw windows loading before i decided to "fix" the ram issue.
If you guys have any ideas that would help. Thx

Im really stumped by the motherboard. I have since tried the Proc. On another computer and it booted and went into windows just fine. I have also tried a 1.2 ghz athlon (max the mobo supports) Had the same issue with not doing anything.
hi guys after wandering the net looking for answers ive ended up here. i was given an old gateway select 1100 thats about 3-4 years old. it has the ms-6330 ver2.1 motherboard. the computer has all the original hardware and was running winme but it had so many problems i decided to reformat the hd and install winxp. now everything is running great i have had no problems with winxp except for one thing. when i boot up the computer i get a "Reboot Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device" message and it gets stuck there. if i press alt+ctrl+del it will continue to boot up normally and all is fine. i looked into this problem and gateway tells me to update the bios in order to fix this problem (http://support.gateway.com/s/issues/151305110.shtml). so i downloaded the file and followed all their instructions step by step in order to update the bios only problem now is it doesnt seem to work. tells me to leave the diskette in the drive and restart the computer to get the update going but when i restart the computer i just get a "non-system disk or disk error" message. ive gone through numerous brand new disks to try and get it to work. no luck. so ive gone through the msi website to try and find a bios update there but i cant seem to locate it. im using the computer right now and everything runs fine.. i just hate to have to alt+ctrl+del that first message everytime i turn on the computer. any help would be appreciated. thanks.
I think you're skiping a step. 1st creat a folder on you HD someware on your desktop or within your "My Document Folders" then download the file to that folder. then unzip the file to that same folder, it should be a file name 7511677.exe or what ever it name. Then save all the files to a floppy disk and restart the computer with it in the drive and that should be it. You can look on the disk you have and I guess you dont have any .exe file within it that why it states in not a boot disk.
thanks for the help but first the file automatically extracts the files to a folder called Cabs in the c: drive. Second there is a .exe file included with the files that are in the zip. finally i cant save the 7511677.exe with the rest of the files because there isnt enough room in the floppy. ive tried numerous things but nothing works.
