Thanks.https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2006/04/1.gif
Nobody thought this one would mount to much. I mean, COME ON!! FOUR?? Ya_know said a week ago that Jeanne was as "loose as a $2.00 whore". Well, guess what: ya_just_never_know. This one instead turned into a pretty serious BITCH!! https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
I figure I'll be w/o electricity by morning if it keeps moving west. jaeger has the next "other" possibility right now. I wish he would at least check in.
HEY: ChatPack! How's is jaeger? Do any of you know?https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2006/04/1.gif
The damn power just went out. I am on battery and the cable hasn't gone yet (again). And, just imagine. This one isn't major, but if I am right about where Ya_know lives, HE is getting nailed right now...and THERE it is major. Good luck Yak.
Damn, I wish I even knew now where it was heading. Good luck jaeger. Good luck Titchski.
I just got power back and cable is up, too. Now they "think" it's going to bear it's brunt up around Tampa, where jaeger lives. But: they have no freaking idea, and the "weathercaster's" are laughing on tv....but then, they put on the required "sad" face.
I'll stay here while this is going on: I am NOT going to sleep. I may not lose power: noone knows.
Now you're just post padding :p
Seriously, I was cleaning the cat box this morning (I get all the good jobs) and the wind was beating on the garage door. We didn't lose power, that I know of anyway, I went to bed early. Looks like we missed the majority of this one Trip, but I hope the Ya_k and Jaeger are ok.
https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/02/1.gif I thought I was "blogging".https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gifQuote:

You need a map of where you all are then this'd make a lot more sense to me !
Though then again living in a hurricane belt doesn't exactly make sense either, especially if this thread is anything to go by, least not to me - I'm sure somebody wanted reasons for & against leaving - seems you've got some more 'fors' ;)
Map here:
http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories...504-0315zb.jpg
this is the map at landfall. I think Yak is down near Miami, but he's never revealed exactly where. jaeger is near Tampa. Myself and Titchski are in the bottom left area (sw Florida) near Fort Myers. 'ski is inland and I am on an island, so nothing ever seems to happen to 'ski.https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif Look at the Lake in the middle and go two inches sw and you'll see a few islands if you look close. That is where I am. Right where Charlie came ashore.https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
As far as why we live down here. Well, we've done that before around here. In a few months when many are suffering through winter, and it is 80 degrees and sunny every single day...well, you get it.https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2006/04/1.gif
Winds are still gusting here around 30-40 mph and it's raining pretty hard. But not like what's happening in Tampa right now, or early this morning in eastern Florida.
What are you moaning about then ? that's an average day in England :D !Quote:

This pic is on a Yahoo news story about Jeanne:

Wouldn't it suck to have weathered the first two or three big hurricanes, only to get nailed by this one?
Thankfully, that's not my house. I had some minor damage, and a lot of debris,Quote:

Man, I just want a 5 day weekend, and NO STORMS!!! Man, every one of these
bastards has been on or around the weekend...in-between the storms I am
cleaning up, or preparing for the next one. I just want to CHILL in my new house!!!
that's what I was thinking.............we had flooding up here from the last one, and it closed roads and took out power and everything, but it started friday night and was done by sunday evening, so it didn't interfere with work at all, just my personal time.
Kind of messed your weekends all up down there!
Good to hear from you Ya_know. https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2006/04/1.gif At least you have electricity.
Now, if anyone knows about jaeger?
Nice and sunny over here in Cali. Slight breeze,.. around 70ish right now. Sunny,.. a few small clouds. Ahhh,... I wish I wasn't at work right now.
I remember SanFran weather as I once lived in Pacifica and SF and worked in Daly City for a bit back before I joined the Air Force.
The weather sucks!https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif No true summer. Chill and cold and fog. Nothing to be bragging about wrbby. https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
Well duh! You lived like right near the ocean in all those spots. Of course you're going to get fog and bay weather. The rest of the silicon valley is great though. But if you don't believe me, I can always take a picture with my cool camera phone and post if you like.
Well, with this type of stuff going on over here, would this fit your bill? At least with hurricanes you get warnings.Quote:

You know,.. you make a damn good point there confus-ed.
Just built mine -ed (well about 18 months ago) - Concrete block for the exterior walls (basically breeze blocks) with stucco finish on the outside. Roof is "supposed" to withstand 140mph winds, I'm not sure if that is sustained or just gusts though.
Overall, Floridas building code is pretty damn good, second only to California. When you add in the shutters, it's a pretty solid house.
Nope, I was thinking more of the san fran area. Washington is too pretty to destroy! :devil:Quote:
