Masturbation and Procreation are two different things. A fertilized egg has an infinitely greater potential to be a human then one of a billion sperm from one ejaculation. This ain’t “Legally Blond”, this is reality. Once the fertilized egg develops, at varying stages it becomes more and more a form recognizable as a human child, even before the changing size of the mothers belly.

I recall Seekers argument being the dependency on the mother takes away it’s individuality, thus removes it as a person until it is no longer dependant, and that too is wrong. We are all dependant to varying degrees, and this stage of a child’s life it just happens to be the most dependant, that doesn’t take away from its value as a living human. It is a living human with dependency on the mother for food, shelter, and care. Wait, most children up until the age of 18, even 31 (isn’t that when you moved out of the house Webbie) are dependant for these same needs…should we be allowed to murder them too?!

Per your “quality of live” remark, doesn’t take away from the fact that any life is better than no life at all, right!?! If you knock off the baby before it’s born, you don’t get to try again, and get the same person…it’s a different being…it’s a different heart, mind, and if you believe, soul. Lets say that we had a 100% guaranteed way to prove that a fetus is gay. You and your wife find out that she is pregnant. A few weeks later, you and your wife go to the doctor to find out how the baby is doing. The doctor says, "with this new technology, I can assure you 100% that this fetus is gay". Would you have it aborted?

What if you knew the baby was going to be super ultra retarded, kind_a like a Trip, Ya_know, Webby, Cleetus, Sunshine, confus_ed super mix?

That's a bullsh!t question, and it can't be 100%, even .0005% (when are you going to drop this anyway). Therefore I would not abort any baby, unless it was suffering from an un-survivable ailment, or if the trauma to my wife physically could harm or kill her. Then we would abort. You want the answer, I have given it before...If my son or daughter came home to me and said they were gay, I would be against it, and try to find a way to understand their decision. I would also try to get them to understand that they are making a "choice" and that this isn't something they were born with. I would try to help them understand that it is the wrong choice. When it’s all said and done, and if I haven’t changed their mind, then I will accept the fact that they have made that choice, and I must live with it. I will never “support” that lifestyle, but I will never stop loving my child if he/she becomes gay.

As to your 100% theory, I have said this before also, if it can actually be proven that someone can be genetically gay, I will support that they don’t have a decision…but you must prove that it is genetic, and on a case by case basis, a gay person can’t just proclaim that they are without first proving they have the genetics. It should not be a permitted “choice”!

Now, I still don't have the answer I seek, and none of you can provide it. When does life begin? If we don't have proof, then we can naturally assume that once the fetus shows signs of a developed heart and brain function, it is a living human, protected by the same rights that the rest of us have...including homosexuals.

If you’d like to twist this, I will provide the fulcrum, with my own twist. You can’t prove that life doesn’t begin at conception, I can’t prove that homosexuality isn’t genetic. Therefore we should both concede that the most fair approach should be met…right? I am pleading that we try to save lives, while you are pleading that gays have the right to marry. As far as how I react, You're just being stupid. There are laws against murdering humans, but no laws protecting human fetus's (or is it feti?). Abortion is a method people use to terminate a pregnancy. Why is this argued as being wrong? Because some people believe that a human life begins at the moment of conception. Anything wrong with that? Some people say "yes" some people say "no". Why do people say it's wrong? Because it's human life we are talking about. Ok, but it's not a human life! Yes it is! This debate goes on and on and back and forth and nobody has a clear answer to this. So why abort if it's so wrong? One: Because not every pregnancy was meant to happen. When conception happens there is a potential for life. Not a life,.. a potential for life. How will we know what the quality of that life will be? Well, we don't so we have to make an educated guess. We decide, will this potential life have a mom and dad? A family? A nice place to live? A way to grow strong mentally and physically? We take all this into account. If mom does not want the child, there may not be a home for child, etc. then why bring a child into this world? The answer is,.. we don't. Before that potential has a chance to turn into life, we abort. Is this a tough decision? I imagine so. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But it is a fact of life.

What distinguishes "human" life from animal life? Is it the ability to discern right from wrong? Is it the ability to plan for a future? Is it the ability to Love your children's children?

What makes human life more sacred than animal life, and when can it be recognized? Like Ya_Know (God I hate to have to agree with him :) ) I think these questions need to be answered, but logic to me does not dictate erring on the side of caution, especially with this many people on the planet.

Touchy subject, but locally, when I see six year old kids carrying pictures of aborted fetus bodies outside the Family Planning Clinic, I think someone should sterilize their parents! I think that young children have NO WAY of making an intelligent decision about anything so complex, and I think that parents who are willing to use their children in this fashion do not deserve children.

Yeah, abortion is a touchy subject, but if it is just to aid promiscuity, then I believe it is teribly wrong, and contributes nothing to survival of the species.

Starting with the point you edified concerning the animals…you claim it’s wrong for someone’s personal beliefs to be imposed on another’s…yet think of the unborn child, and what is being imposed on them with an abortion.

Going back to what you said in bold above…so what…quality of life is minuscule when compared to life itself…One must realize, that if we deem it illegal to kill a human, that to kill an unborn baby, in most cases a perfectly healthy baby, because quality of life wouldn’t be perfect is not an adequate explanation to the unborn child. If you had the chance (here we go with hypothetical again, but this time it’s my turn) to tell the baby, and it could understand you, why you didn’t think it was right to continue the pregnancy…could you give it a completely justifiable answer, without showing that the decision was completely selfish and one sided…keeping the baby completely out of the decision making process? If that baby could speak coherently, what do you think it would say…“it’s ok mommy/daddy/indiscriminant pro-lifer, I understand that I am not important enough for you to give me a chance at life. I probably wouldn’t amount to much anyway, thank you for killing me…” If that was you…what would you say to you’re parents at that very moment?

I've been dealing with the likes of webbie for far too long...I resorted to yelling and name calling for the simple reason that he displays little...well there I go trying to be nice, he shows no reasoning or open-mindedness, and uses a barrage of insults in all of his posts...so I have gotten used to responding in kind and scope for a long time.

Granddad was actually coming after me because he was sticking up for Adept...which is fine, but I wasn’t fighting with Adept. So, I wanted to take up the fight with Grandad, give him a reason to participate in good old fashion WD style, with a simple topic and an outpour of opinion. He didn't want to take the challenge...his prerogative, but I will never falter like that.

The only reason I have constantly insulted you is due to your complete lack of respect for Bush, and your constant hypocrisy and tunnel vision. So, what’s your point about abortion…raise the stakes for me, Webbie isn’t much of a competition.

I already said that I do not believe that it is life until we can remove it from the womb and sustain it with our technology. Any other way, you are forcing an entire segment of the population to completely adhere to your beliefs. The idea of choice being that if you do not believe then you do not participate. There is still a choice to be made by those who can make that choice.

Funny enough, a child isn't considered to be able to make important choices until 18, and in some cases 21 or even 25. Yet in this one instance, their choice is the only one that matters in the entire thing, at least for those that believe that it is in fact already a child.
