Sorry, euphoriaA, but you just don't strike me as the kind of person that checks or verifies anything when you have a problem. I think your first response to any kind of difficulty is to change a dozen or so things at random and then call for help if it doesn't work. Flailing around, installing multiple programs, and ranting at people who really would like to help you isn't going to get you where you want to be.
-
thats why ur not a mental analysist slgrieb.
i search for the problem i speak 2 my relos who are techys and i lookin for similar problems and solutions.
i tried the drivers and apart from that i cudnt work out the verification.
i didnt realise it made a log with more detail then what it showd in the window.
thank you for that help noonoo.
i dont have roxio, wen i wiped and installed xp i installd nero express and that was it.
do u have any ideas what it could be?
and i tried to attach the whole text doc. but it wont allow .txt extensions, which imo. is a stupid thing for a pc support forum cause in order to get best help logs need to be seen as proven above.
slgrieb if u not gon add to the topic dont post.
pm me , i'll ignore it anyway...
-
If it's text you can just copy and paste it into one or more posts.
What concerns me more is that you are trying to burn files that Nero cannot find.
here is a list of software that uses PXHELP20.SYS'. Check and see if you have any of them.
-
its alot of text. that bit i posted was about 1/80th of what was there.
it be much better if could post txt files.
so i need to get pxhelp20.sys?
where can i dl it and where does it go?
-
You have got pxhelp20.sys, but you don't need it and it may be causing the problem... but just deleting it will cause worse problems.
If you read the history log you would see that each burn you did is listed. The latest burn should be the last thing in the file. You posted burns from 5th November and a partial log from 1st December.
How about you look at the file and post a whole log for a recent burn?

The log said the data burned successfully, but it couldn't verify. If the cd came out blank, I would say that the laser in the drive is faulty. This requires a new drive.
-
****stickles -.-
so how come it burnt a dvd and a data disc at one stage?
-
From what you describe, this unit went faulty in stages. Also there are two lasers in that unit - one for DVD burning, the other for CD burning.
The only way to be absolutely sure is to remove the unit and put it in another machine.
You could try a firmware update (if there is one). But it is risky - use the wrong one or have a power fluctuation when the firmware is updating and the drive is definitely toast.
-
hmmm.
i may jus get an external burner.
-
But your laptop is under warranty... why on earth would you not want to get a replacement drive? Some companies will send you the drive for you to do yourself.
