Hey Rotten, apology accepted. It's just been a really rough time for everyone so emotions are running rampant.
Just a further note on your short history lesson: Palestine as a country never really existed in this context. The word Palestine comes from Phillistine which was an ancient people that lived in the region. When the Romans took over that area, they wanted to delete any reference to the Israelites that they could, so they renamed it Palestine. They did this because the Phillistines were an ancient foe of the Israelites, and I guess that the Romans were into irony. The Palestinians took their name from the region, not the other way around, therefore they have no historical claim to the land. Furthermore, as was mentioned in an earlier post, the Arabs ruled the current Israel for 22 years; hardly a valid historical claim on a land.

You suggest that my first post was ignorant and uncaring which is incorrect. The fact that I understand that to truly quell the aggressive actions against this country it will take more than simply bombing a few countries isn’t ignorance, it’s careful consideration of what we’re up against.
The fact that I’m aware of the poverty and pain of others throughout the world doesn’t make me uncaring; it just means I take the whole scope of the problem into consideration as opposed to only considering our problem here in America.
This tragedy our country has been thrust into has no easy resolutions, it’s complex and it takes level heads to map a plan and to prevent these attacks and protect Americans in the future.
You suggest that I don’t care and I disagree. This attack on our soil has hurt me deeply. I am literally in a daze and even today I have a surreal feeling as if this is a dream but that doesn’t take away my objectivity. I can scream the injustices and for revenge but that would have done nothing more than to add to the anger on this board. I came to the board to try to hold a discussion with other people (Americans and foreigners) to try to help me work through this.
You suggest that when 2 members of this board said something I didn’t like I wanted to fight. That isn’t the case. Had these 2 gentlemen simply rebutted my sentiments with their opinions and views I would have considered those views and discussed them. Instead their post attempted to belittle my opinions and did so aggressively and with profanity which I took at a personal level. Instead of fueling their attack on me by responding in kind I chose to deal with them directly (ironically you guys seem to think a direct response to an attack on our country is appropriate but an attack on an individual is not).
A forum such as this is meant to discuss issues and help each other find answers. There is no room for individual attacks and abusive, inflammatory belittlement of the members. When we respond to a difference of opinion in the way the 2 aforementioned members did, doesn’t it display the same aggressive nature as the very people we are condemning (in this case the terrorists)?
It’s no big secret that this is the most heinous crime ever committed in this country. I hoped to find answers and healthy discussion on this board. When I tried to instigate healthy discussion it was met with immature personal attacks by a small few which caused me to respond to them at their level by challenging them to a more intimate, personal confrontation. I asked that they email me to keep their attack on me between them and myself and not on this board.
I will continue to read the comments here and partake in any healthy discussion on this tragedy our country has been thrust into. If the only extent of the discussion is to scream of killing and bombing other humans then I suppose I’m in the wrong place. We as Americans should stand for justice and freedom and to set the example for the rest of the world. We should track down the small few who have brought this suffering to our country and make an example of them. Additionally I agree with the President in his decision to hold accountable any country that harbors these criminals. I do not think the greatest power and influence in the world, America, should demonstrate the same barbarism as the terrorists by indiscriminately attacking and bombing countries. Part of the love for this country is its constant striving for justice and fairness. People all around the world flock to this country in the hopes of becoming an American. Let’s not reduce ourselves to the level of ignorance that these terrorist supporting countries have. Let’s keep our heads and demonstrate to the world how to deal with these people in a careful, calculating and superior way without the destruction of more innocent lives.

Cheese Breathe, this line of thinking is dangerous. As I mentioned before America is great for a reason. One of these reasons is our open society. I have no problem with making airport security tougher, I flew around the country a couple of weeks ago and I was appalled at the lack of security, but we can't let crazies dictate our law. Do a search for the Omnibus Anit-terrorism bill. Read through it, it reads like something from communist USSR.Quote:

You know how the police can get a search warrant to enter your home if there is evidence of illegal activity?
Here’s my suggestion for U.S. action.
The United Nations should issue a “search warrant” allowing the United States and supporting countries to enter the countries known to harbor and condone terrorist activities. Any country denying this coalition of forces to conduct a search and destroy mission for terrorists will be dealt with swiftly and effectively by destroying their respective capitols and military bases.
