Scott you need to let us know what the hell is going on.
What can we do to help?
Cant use java as an op, it fills too much of the screen, you cant scroll back very far, it causes memory leaks, there must be something better than this as a solution!

/me edits post...
I have an idea:
From what ive gathered, internet.com has put a
restriction of port 8000 only for the chatserver. My idea is disabling the buggy slow huge chatspace java client (on port 8000 right now) and setting a standard irc port as port 8000. Then for guests and link on the homepage you could make a link for the jpilot jIRC client, its about 70k and will use a HELL of a lot less bandwidth, this also makes it load close to instantly even on dialup and its rock stable.
This would make it so the ops could use their customized mirc clients and be able to help out a lot more effeciently (or at all!) just by connecting to port 8000.
If you need more info, just post in here or pm me, ill explain further, i cant imagine this is readable due to the time here (2:30am)
I really hope this can help,
Burn.
I have to agree. Even though the java client looks all pretty, it still runs very slow & laggy. The day when I switched over to using mIRC, I could've died a happy man. It runs so much better and it's much easier to view/do anything with.
If you are in need of any help, please feel free to ask and we'll do all we can.
Burn, if Scott goes for that, it would be fantastic, fabulous idea Burn!
Lets hope it gets at least a trial
java's down again this seriousley sucks and java sucks to begin with come on
Well I guess the only good "Free" thing left on Windrivers is gone. Doesn't anyone have a chat server up??? Burn ? Tech? anyone?
If not I will open one back up.
okay, I hate to say it but the Java client SUX !!!!!!!!!!
if it does load eventually it's slow and not really user friendly.
I did manage to connect last night (took forever..) but the room was completely empty and remained that way for about 2 hours so I gave up and left.
I understand wanting to close some ports - but this is killing the chat room.
Condor
The reason you were in there on your own is because its only letting one person in at a time. Seedyrom and I experimented with that last night.
The regulars are communicating in several ways, a couple of temp irc servers are available, icq is another option.
However, it was the guests that needed help that kept alot of us in there. Many of us are not "chat" freaks and so there is no where for us to show off our tech skills while having a little fun.
PM me if you have any bright ideas!
Heck I'd even suggest and would be willing to provide a temp. server that Scott can re-link to until he gets all of his marbles back in the jar. But it seems he lacks communication skills at the moment. Later all...
Do this:-
Connect to irc.webchat.org
Join channel #Windrivers
I cannot guarantee this will work, but it will do until Scott tells us what is going on :)
Wasn't home last night people, get off me back....Give this a try....

Also IRC is now on 8000

Burn.
Burn you clever old stick you!
And Scott, sorry if you thought we were on your back, but we had no information and it was getting tough not to think the worst!
Thankyou for restoring it
but eerr, the window is a little large - could you reduce the java just a bit??? Thanks again!
/me is a very happy bunny!
Just a lil note to say thanks to Burn for the kickass idea and to Scott for getting things happening again.
