Well, Mechwarrior4 is kind of a FPS, and UT. I'm much better at MW4 though.
Is Balder's Gate an RTS? Love that game, but I thought the turn-based SSI battle system was a little more fun. Anyway, kinda into Total Annihilation and B&W right now. I still play Civilization 2, and how old is that game?
Okay, if we're gonna consider MechWarrior 4 a FPS (I guess that's true if you use the cockpit view) and Black & White a real time strategy, then those two get my vote. :)Quote:

FPS - I love all the one's posted so far, but my latest game to play is Delta Force 2. It rocks!
RTS - I can't wait for WarCraft 3 to come out. The last RTS that I bought was Total Annihilation, the original one, and I still think that it rocks!
FPS Unreal Trouny and Soilder of Fortune
RTS AOE 2 and Starcraft
Funwise:
1.Counterstrike
2.Hexen 2
3.Unreal Tournament
Graphicswise
1.UT
2.Counterstrike
3Hexen 2
(i'm not a quake fan at all)
FPS - I got hooked on NOLF and Soldier of fortune (good carnage)
RTS - Im playing Fallout Tactics ATM, thats sort of a combination of Roleplay and RTS (you can switch between Turn or Real Time)
Delta Force Land Warrior was a pretty good FPS too...
I agree with Lycia about quake and ut, you only really play them when you dont want to think. Which is fine by me. :p
Then u guys don't know the thrill of cooperation and effective teamwork. I am talking about Tribes1 and 2. One game that makes you think twice before you shoot, plan before you execute, aim before you fire. But it's more than just eliminating the opponents, it's a school in human relations and social skills, as to keep a team working ppl have to learn how to work together. Even if you are after boasting around you can show off in public and duel servers with your skills. Yet all this and no gore, no blood which adds to the existing loads of fun. Any idiot can run down a hallway and shoot anything that moves, in tribes, n00bs are quickly spotted, cuz they do just that. Except there's no interior but outdoors...
1. Tribes1
2. Tribes2
3. Unreal Tournament
Intruder=ND=
Duke Nukem was my favorite for a while
Rainbow Six is sweet but I hate that it take's so long to play
I want to try unreal, never played it, never had time.
I liked Quake but it started getting old and I found myself getting lost a lot
FPS: Soldier of Fortune. {AYB}-Cer
Currently, my favorite realtime simulation game would be "Need For Speed - Porsche Unleashed" because the graphics, physics, and sound integration are totally awesome; especially on MY sound system!
As for first person shooter - I'd play:
1) Unreal Tournament - GOTYE
2) Quake III Team Arena (req: #3)
3) Quake III Arena
4) Aliens vs. Predator
5) Shadow Warrior
6) Dark Forces
7) Duke Nuke'Em
8) Doom II
9) Doom
10) Wolfenstein 3D
What's wrong with listing a few classics? Anyway, keep your eyes open for a game called "Red Faction". It should appear as soon as this Autumn in local stores. The game boasts a new 'on-the-fly' geometric manipulation engine which allows players to blast their way through walls, floors, and ceilings!
Lycia,
If you had UT skills then you would love it, I hit most of the people I aim at, I've tried tons of games but nothing competes with the rush of UT. Practice enough and you'll agree, I used to like the stadegy games until UT. Practice about 100 hours become top scorer almost every game and you'll be hooked like a crack whore.
Single player
1.Hidden and Dangerous
2.Delta force
Multiplayer
Q3 fast machine
Duke nukem slow machine
Wife plays all of the AOE versions religiously, sons play nothing but Ultima Online.
The best FPS is Counterstrike. Can't get enough of it.
Played Day of Defeat, but the guys look like "stick men".
MW4 doesn't qualify as a FPS really. It's more of a strategy/pound em to death over time with big guns game. Civ2 multiplayer is great over weeks or months but doesn't qualify as a RTS. GP500 doesn't qualify as a FPS either, much as I wish it would. Why don't they mount guns on motorcycles?
Some of the best games are pretty old now. How long has Unreal Tournament been around?
Personally, I've found some of the better mods still go the distance. Halflife Firearms is one of the better ones...similar to other team oriented games. Unreal Tournament doesn't really cut it as a team game compared to Firearms or Day of Defeat. If only there were more like that. If you're after just a good FPS then anything else kicks a$$ graphics/gameplay wise. I still love a good team battle though.
