Loved it when I bought my last car. Got them down $2000 in ten minutes, and I had no trade in. Then I spent 2 1/2 hours reading and re-reading after I asked question every peace of paper they wanted me to sign. Turned what they thought would be a quick sale into a major headache for all of their guys. My dad who was with me left early when he realized what I was doing, he just laughed at the salesman and financial guys and told them to have a lot of fun.
As far as the ISP situation, she got nabbed. Sorry, it is because of people like her that we all sit around and make fun of all the warnings on everything. Heck, she even had it in her contract. Yeah, it sucks to be stuck having to deal with a monopoly, but we all deal with it with M$ everyday. She was charged as stated in her contract, if she sues, the judge should laugh her out of court. Just like what should have been done to the McDonalds coffee lady.

Is it your goal in life to jump on everyone else's mistakes and make fun? If I remember correctly you were the one that was throwing a huge amount of money into a car that wont be worth half what you put into it when it's all said and done.
You had it right, ignorance is no excuse.

No, that isnt my goal in life at all, its just that morons piss me off.
Now, are you actually trying, or does it just come naturally to you?

Would you expect you grandmother to know enough about what the terms of service was talking about to be able to ask questions about it? If she didn't would you call her ignorant?

This is turning into somewhat of a crusade disarm... is it because Troll posted it, or perhaps because its a woman who got punished for not being sensible?
As for my grandmother - she wouldn't sign ANYTHING without checking it for herself and if she wasn't sure would insist on using a phone to ask some one who would know.
-
Tell me you've never made a mistake and that you've read ever service agreement you've ever come across.
I'm sure troll has never made a mistake. But does he have to point it out everytime someone else does and call them a moron? I think I read somewhere that he never even graduated high school.
Sad.
-
Mistakes? Plenty, not read a service agreement.. no, can't say that I have.. software licencing agreement, yeah I skip read those.
As for pointing up other peoples follies and calling them stupid, yep.
I fail to see how pointing out Troll's official level of education has anything to do with anything at all... unless you were being ironic?
-
Ok guys, perhaps this needs to come to an end now? Your both entitled to your opinions and both of you are on the money in some respects with regard to the 'DSL Lady' but the personal insults aren't going to get us anywhere. If you feel the need to blow steam at each other, maybe PM is a better way to do it. No offence meant to either of you, just telling it the way I see it.
Cheers,
-
I do find it ironic that someone who had trouble getting through the easiest part of life can call everyone he comes across a moron for having a different opinion. That's my whole point. People make mistakes. This lady definatly made a mistake. No one is arguing that. She chose the wrong ISP. If the people at said ISP had any common decency they would have realized that this lady was less than tech savvy, given her notice, and let it slide.
On to other things...I didn't pick this fight. Not long ago I gave this boy some sound advice about spending money on cars and he didn't like it. So he makes me and everyone who ever would agree, out to be a moron.
Ironic.

So why doesn't anyone do anything about it? I'm sure some angry picketers at the next meeting of the Austrailian Congress (Sorry, I've no clue as to the names of your parts of government) would definitely raise some eyebrows... Maybe get a little media coverage. At least here in the States, it's not too difficult to get things changed if you have enough support...
Maybe create a web site that has a poll on it (should probably gather names and addresses, and post a privacy statement...) and create a chain letter with the link on it... (I normally don't condone chain letters, but for a good cause, they can be useful...)

It's really that simple. But these greedy corporations are always out to screw the average consumer. I can't make a judgment on a person just because they made a mistake. I'm sure Einstein made his fair share of dumb mistakes in his time. What makes someone a moron is if they don't learn from their mistake. I still think the courts will dismiss this case if it ever came to trial. This ISP is a bully on average consumers. It's sickening to me what most corporations have been evolving into these days.
