DragonBall/Z/GT will always be favs, but for movies, Ghost in the Shell is good, as is Dagger of Kimu(sp?)
Project ako
Ninja Scroll
Vampire Hunter D ( I mean a guy whose hand talked back to him could have sone embarassing moments )
Akira
My fav has to be Fist of the North Star. Then anything with lots of Mechs. Of course Vampire Hunter D, Bubble Gum Crisis (ALL), and so many more that I wouldn't be able to list them in one post. I've also checked out Urosukidoji but if any of you know this one then you also know it takes a strong stomach to watch too, but it was pretty cool.
The japanese title was Gatchamen, the US title Battle of the Planets (G-Force). An excellent show. I grew up waking up extra early just to watch it as well as the three Robotech series that aired in the US. I remember that the Robotech cartoon was the first cartoon where people actually died instead of jumping out in the nick of time like GI Joe. Pretty cool huh?Quote:

HHHHHMMMMM...My favs are...
X--Very nice and action packed.
Ninja Scroll---Jubei is awesome. If I ever get a ferret I'll name it Jubei.
Akira--Got to Enjoy Blood and Gore.
Street Fighter--Awesome music and the Chunli vs Vega fight ruled.
Tekken--Kicked butt and I enjoyed watching Jin tear that dino's head open.
Dragonball Z--I'm a major Vegeta fan.
Thats good for a start. Someone please cry a tear for Mr Myagi he needs to get out more.

Oh my god!!! Did you guys hear that a NEW Vampire Hunter D is coming out?? Does that kick *** or what?? Yeah I KNOW it rocks.

The Guyver?? Kymera, Bad BAD girl. That anime was almost as bad as the movie. Just...EEEEWWWWW!!!! I know I'm bad to be bad mouthing someones taste with me being a newbie and all. I'm not a bad person just mistaken.
LAter,
PEZMASTER
Well, I prefer the subbed version to the American dubbed. The one exception I have seen so far is DragonballZ, they seem to have done a better than average job in translating.
As far as other anime, I have not seen many anime movies, most of what I have is TV shows.
So, my favs (no order): Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, Flame of Recca, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Dragonball Z, Saber Marionette J, Gundam Wing, Escaflowne
sweet, thanks a lotQuote:

Sub-titled all the way. I ALWAYS buy anime on DVD so I can use the Japanese sound track and English subtitles. Not only are the tranlations usually better, but Japanese voice actors tend to be much better than their American counterparts. They seem to put much more emotion and energy into their work.Quote:

No one has mentioned Voltron! That was one of my favorites when I was a kid. Watched it every chance I got. The vehicle Voltron kinda sucked, but the Lion Voltron was pretty cool.
The recent 3D-ized version sucked boulders, though. Especially disappointing without the cool "Form Blazing Sword" sequence.
Bubblegum Crisis (OAV)
Transformers
Macross/Robotech
Some others I cannot remember from 7+ years ago when I was a member of the high school anime club.
One I hated:
Dragonball/DBZ...the pits....the fools in the club showed the same episode of it for 6 straight weeks....after club members threatening the dismemberment of the club leadership...they wised up...and started to show Bubblegum Crisis....one of the best Anime series I have seen...even have the DVD set now(Christmas gift from a friend).
Be careful, there's actual 2 DVD sets out. A red boxe which has the first half of the series and a blue boxe which is the second half. Each box contains something like 4-5 DVDs and costs around $160-$200.Quote:

I keep seeing this DVD set at my local store. Is it any good? The whole set is about $160(US) It looks intriguing but I want to make sure it's good before I buy the entire set.
BTW - I prefer the Japanese language with subtitles. I find on DVD's the sound is Dolby 5.1 instead of 2 channel stereo(On the english dubs)
Has anyone checked out "X" yet? Once again "X" is simply awesome.
As a general rule, I prefer subs but there are series/movies which has good dubs:
Ranma 1/2
Heroic Legend of Arislan (1st 3 tapes only)
Tenchi Muyo (not Tenchi in Tokyo)
Princess Mononoke
Armitage III
Series that I like (in no particular order):
Fushigi Yuugi (got me and my girlfriend hooked on Anime)
Nadesico
Cowboy Beebop
The Irresponsible Captain Tylor
Trigun
Bubblegum Crisis
Bubblegum Crisis 2040 (different continuity, but interesting)
AD Police
Dominion Tank Police
New Dominion Tank Police
Gunsmith Cats (the manga's better)
Tenchi Muyo
Gasarakhi (sp?)
1 episode of Pretty Sammy (hey, they make fun of Bill Gates & M$, how can you not like that?)
Patlabor
Beserk
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Serial Experiment: Lain
Vision of Escaflowne
Dual
Record of the Lodoss Wars
Slayers
You're Under Arrest!
Movies that I like (in no particular order):
Battle Angel Alita
Grave of the Fireflies (too sad to watch more than once)
Akira
Appleseed
Vampire Hunter D
Ninja Scroll
Ghost in the Shell
Mononoke Hime (japanese version is better, but english dub wasn't bad at all)
Naussica (NOT that horrid US version)
Ok in truth, if Studio Ghibli made it; I like it. :D
Oh and for the person who didn't recognize a lot of the anime being listed; that's not suprising. If you don't follow anime; you have to wait for the US companies to release it commercially. If you do follow anime, then you're probably getting what are known as fan-subs. These are kinda grey-market tapes. A fan obtains the video (preferable on LD or DVD) and subtitles it themselves. Then they distribute the video usually for the cost of the tape plus shipping.
Goldorak in canada( i think in US. it was grendizer)
Hutchie ( it was the story of a bee searching for his mom. that sh*t rocked more then you'd think)
the 3 version of Voltron ( that means not the recent cgi enhanced)
kenshin
blue seed
devil man
