Gee, I work out of my house. My office has a huge desk and credenza, and I've even installed a lighted bar behind my bookcase...for emergencies, of course... :D

I worked in a large cubicle in a room with a nice view through the great big window. there was a little glare. i sat in my chair most of the day, and drank all of the free pop i could handle. i slept in my chair for about an hour or 2 a day, and they never really had much work for me.

I live in the world of grey cubicles too
my work area resembles WWI trenches except for the cow spotted walls
and the stupid cafeteria hours dont work into my jobs timeframe

Complete workshop pretty much to myself, gas heating, bit warm in summer. windows that work, tons of parts, lots of bench space, cheerfully decorated with odd n ends laying around. Along with three computers

I work in a large open plan office with the table in "stars" of four. One is empty and the other two are hot-desks for laptops, so it's dead quiet.
Nice furniture, good atmosphere, no strip lights and the air conditioning works! Even my monitor faces away from everyone else so surfing for pr0n isn't too bad :)

I thought i had it average till I read about some of you guys!! I share an office with 3 other support bods. It is about 40ft long and 15ft wide. My desk sits right at the back so no one can see my screen. we have no windows to the outside world (only to the hanger next to me and 3 skylights) but we do have 2x air con units and radiators.
I also have a 15x15ft workshop and a large server room. If you exclude the lack of decent windows I do actually have it pretty good. I get ot listen to my MP3's in the workshop and at my desk. Our doors even have punch codes so user cant disturb us. They go to the main helpdeks up the corridor :)

I share an office with our other IT guy. Our whole building is pretty cool. We made an office out of two old homes from the early 1900's. They're both three stories, and there's a glass atrium that joins them. We even have a fireplace in our office. Don't know if it works or not though. Too much junk piled around it.

I am leached by a alpha-numeric pager and a walkie talkie.
We have no windows in our office. But I have keys to every electrical closet on campus (a small university in SE WI). We have a .25 pop machine, 2 fridges, microwave, and a toaster that will burn asbestos.
My desk is small, I have a P120 for a computer but get to play with ultra new technology.
Things would be a bit better with a window...

My last job rocked! I was a contractor with 4 other techs inside a locked room. We all had our own PC's and only other person besides us who has access was our company manager. The IT manager for the company that we supported did not even have a key, everyone had to knock!
It was nice being able to play games or look at some video's knowing nobody can sneak up on you..

I am surrounded by cube walls in a particularly drool-inducing shade of green. The tile floor beneath me used to be white, now is a distubing mess of water and rust stains.
There are windows in the dept. but the shades are always drawn because I think people are afraid of Mr. Sun. The guy in the cube behind me listens to talk radio all day, usually a couple women jabbering on about the trials of raising children and keeping a home in order. I have no idea why this guy listens to that crap.
People eat noisily at their desks, then complain when (*gasp*) they come into work to find mouse turds on their desks. Ants are also quite popular. There's a women who runs around with a can of raid killing ants and poisoning everyone else. Mmmmmm, nothing like the smell of morning coffee and lung choking pesticide!

Well, I guess I am just lucky. My office used to be a conference room (10'x16'). Even better it is in the back of the admin area, at the end of a dead end hall. The only down side is the 3 servers and 2 desk tops that keep the temp in my office above 70 degrees in the dead of winter and substantially hotter the rest of the year.

I can't complain about my job, I get to come in late as long as I come in, I get free lunch, I get to go to the bars with my boss, he hooks me up with free software, hooks me up with free stereo installations on my truck when he gets his stereo in his car installed, I get a free pass to the YMCA, I get dental service, I get health insurance, I can honestly tell him that his ideas are F@#*ing stupid and not worry about him being mad, I can surf the net on occassion as long as I don't do it too much while on the clock, and i get free donuts. Heh I'd have to say I'm damn near royalty. Now all I need to do is get more cash but then again I need to learn more before I can do that.

Nice office with wood paneling, window that opens, laser printer, in a portable a good distance from main building. Only drawback is that my office is also the wiring closet!
Other than that, I love it! Hardly anyone bothers me and I can close the door if I wan't to nap. ;)

Well from listing to some of these stories I must be lucky!! I have my own office (10 x 12) with locking door, large window (that can open), A/C in summer- heat in winter, company car to go from building to building ( we aren't lazy, just have 20 acres of buildings). I guess we have it pretty good. Well we do have one big draw back... We have to dumbest users ever put on the face of the earth!! We are expected to teach people who can barely read to use a PCs. But then again I guess we all have those types of users we support. Job security forever...
