[RESOLVED] Painting!!

ITLU you can mount any defence you like .... but spraying your motherboard with metalic paint isn't a very smart move ... the original 'nutter' wasn't talking about cooler systems at all, you were talking about them let me remind you

So when you 'own' up to 'moving the goal posts' I'll agree !sure there are things you might like to do to your motherboard, like spray it with flourescant paint (as you said tape up slots etc .... but you can't seal it up for a water cooled system ....

But don't have a whine at me for pulling you up on what you did say ! You might have thought you said something else, but I'm not physic ! All I can do is reply to what you actually said, not what you thought you said .....

Hey bud, sorry if you had a problem. Maybe that article says that you can spray a board and I kind of think you MAY be able to, it doesn't make it a good idea. Look over the other posts again and you will see the guys were talking about painting a case.

No matter if you can do this or not, it doesn't sound like a great idea. If you somehow got it into your head that it was ok to spraypaint circuit boards (motherboard or whatever) I'm sorry, but it was a bad idea and you just have to live with it and have no one to blame but yourself.

If folks rip on you, it because it seems obvious to them that this was just a bad idea. Question: Did you even tape up the ram/pci/agp/cpu slots?? How about the jumper blocks and the cmos battery?

i think what i did was not smart now. i understand.

i do not mean any offence to any of you but your reaction is not nice at all. i really wish you would not just call me dumb when there is proof that you can spray your motherboard. my frien said he did it and his soyo motherboard is bright red. how could it be red if he didn't paint it???

if the metal in the paint is making it beep then how do I get it off now?

iloveusers - no i taped the slots and battery up first but didn't tape the other stuff. they are just metal pins from the motherboard right?

Please please i need help before my boss finds out i messed up the motherboard and gets mad at me!!!!!!!!

so the motherboard you spray painted is not even yours ? LOL
if i was your boss and you spray paint one of my motherboards and fry it.. i will fire you so fast, you will not know what hit you... but any ways.. i think you should take the motherboard out of the case and try cleaning it with denatured alcoho, paint thinner, goof off or somethingl and a q-tip or cotton ball.. good luck..

Exactly. The chemicals that are capable of removing the paint are also capable of damaging the materials that the MoBo are made of, and there are just to many components on the board to deal with. So, to get yourself out of trouble buy a new board, replace this one, and don't tell anyone else, outside the forum, just how stupid you are.

As far as the Soyo MoBo that is bright read, many of the boards out there are green, Orange, or Red to begin with. So quite possibly you are confused.

If this is real, I doubt cleanning will help, to many tight spots and stuff under capaciters, sockets and chips. I'd buy a new motherboard, with your own money.

You said that it now beeps after you chipped of the paint. This leads me to belive you damaged the curcuits chipping off the paint and the MB is beyond fixing. With this, I think it is a lost cause.

OK, I see this in the original post:

What did you use to chip the paint off before? Also, I agree with Ya_know (first for everything ;) ) that using chemicals on the mobo might ruin it even more than the paint did. You might want to try and just clean the contacts and jumper blocks off.

Does the syetm boot at all?

If I use paint thinner will it mess up the board? how do i use it so it doesnt mess the board up?

ilove: i used a paint scraper on the flat spots and tried a small wire brush for the metal pin things. why is it important, why do you want to know? are you going to make fun of me also for trying to make it better?

noonoo: i am sure it will come off. why would it not??
