Too bad the world leaders aren't the ones on the front lines during crap like this, perhaps they'd receive a much-needed change in perspective.

Then weeks later Powell went in front of the UN, nothing but WMDs, not the horrors of the Saddam regime. We were battleing terrorism.

Months later, we easily win the war. My friends started returning talking about how most were happy, some were not, how they will never forget the smell of multiple burning bodies nor the sight of them being run over by tank after tank. Then the whole lie and bs of the Jessica Lynch story, don't think I have to repeat how the wool was pulled over our eyes on that one.

Saddam is still unaccounted for, Osama is still unaccounted for, the WMD's are still unaccounted for, N. Korea continues to build nuclear programs and are infinitly worse to their people, Africa is full of strife, and surprise terrorism is still happening.

And I won't even go into the Patriot Act.

Bush has shown himself to be infinetly worse then Clinton. He went in front of the nation and lied, bold face lied to us, there have been no proofs, billions have been spent, lives have been lost. We aren't talking about the definition of is, or oral sex, but lives, real lives.

Destroying American credit and attacks on nations are not things that I hold dear abot my country.

You give me proof that we are in danger, than I want them dead, like I showed in my posts on this board. But, after all this time, those proofs are torn down, then I can easily show how that is the wrong blood lust to have.

Listen to talk radio, listen to those that still support, listen to Fox, no body mentions the WMD's, now we are made to feel that the entire war was to help the people of Iraq and kill a dictator. No, these were not my reasons.

They proved that they were no threat, not one chemical weapon was used, nothing has been found.

I am ashamed that Bush came from Texas.

Them’s some good reasons I guess. I am no longer enamored with and will vote against Bush and the republicans for multiple other reasons but not the war effort.

Exaggeration of the truth is in effect a lie but the fact does remain that Sadam did have chemical weapons and had used them several times. It was known that he had chemical weapons and had produced more and could continue to produce more, had stated that he would use them on any army that invaded and everything did point to him having them. When they invaded they found terrorist training camps, one being the fuselage of a jetliner where they taught the terrorists how to capture aircraft with knives and the like (i.e. put 2+2 together and you know where the 9-11 hijackers trained).

As for the location of the chemical weapons, well, it's the UN that made us all wait to go despite weapons inspectors being kicked out of the country for years. I think that was Clinton in charge those years.

This thread is so damn sad because hindsight is 20/20 and we still can't agree on what reality is or how events should have occured. I guess the one thing we know for sure is that this sort of thing never truly works out exactily as one would like no matter your viewpoint.

I'm not at all disenchanted with the Republican party. I am more than a little concerned that Bush did intnetionally mislead the U.S. and the world on WMD though. I do find it difficult to believe he would have made lies he knew would see the light of day sooner or later.

We have some pretty sophisticated intelligence gathering methods, none of them are perfect though. Maybe the best information we had was wrong. I had zero trouble believing Saddam had WMD before we went in. I don't know anyone who seriously had doubts about it beforehand. Is it not possible Bush was wrong also? I'd like to know more certainly. If our President lied to us there should at the very least be an inquiry.

In the end I believe Bush is making some very difficult decisions about life and death for many many people. I believe he is making the right choices, though I may question some of the information we have been presented with. In the long run I think the world will be a better, safer place because we took (are taking) a stand.

I applaud the nations like Great Britain that have also risked the blood of their sons and daughters in this effort.

The wheel of public opinion is turning. The conservatives had their heyday in the patriotic furor that followed 9/11. I am typically conservative though I have agreements and disagreements with both conservativesd and liberals. Consequently I am concerned about the liberal backlash that is likely to follow as the political pendulum swings the other way and the liberal viewpoints hold sway. We still have men and women fighting and dying for the freedoms of the people of other nations of this world. I, for one have not lapsed one bit in my support of our troops or the War on Terrorism.

Hunt them down and kill them. Take their money. Destroy their bases of power. Do not stop, do not falter. I have not forgotten 9/11. I haven't forgotten the U.S.S. Cole, Khobar Towers, the first attack on the Twin Towers, all the planes that have been brought down all over the globe. Embassies, hotels, and restaurants in many countries that were full of innocent men, women, and children and have become gory, terrorist bombing scenes of death and pain.
