Dubya's 50 greatest accomplishments

just a thought... I really didn't read all of the post because I grow tired of the bashing but yet I retain morbid curiosity. Anyway, I am not saying George is great or evil incarnate. The thing that strikes me as odd is the topics that he gets blamed for. To me, at least, it seems that many of the things he is blamed for is actualy controlled by the U.S. Congress. Taxes...congress, ability to make war...congress. Its seems all of his proposals (good and bad) still need the approval of congress. Maybe we should take more concern in who we vote in to Congress. (especially if the don't have the strength to stand up to him and say no). Trust me, I am by far no constitutional scholar. Yet, my understanding is that the President executes the will of the People as set forth by Congress. Anyway, that was just a thought. I am not saying I am for George or not. I have said this no matter who is in office. I am for holding the President accountable what he did or didn't do. However if we are going to place blame, we should at least place it with the correct people.

Our stance on peace is more a result of our inefficient/underfunded military and bloated social programs than actual good will, I'm afraid.

I think Canada should consider itself lucky that by sheer geographical location we have such a strong ally as the US, even if we don't/can't offer much in the way of support these days.

Chinese pilot playing the hotshot interceptor, doing all the things fighter pilots do to recon aircraft, ends up clipping a propellor driven aircraft and dies. The Chinese then hold the aircraft and personnel while both sides angrily complain to one another. Damn, reminds me of the Cold War. Of course, you are 57 years old, so you probably remember that, right? For your information, no matter who sat at the helm, that aircraft was going to be taken apart and studied piece by piece. We did it to the Soviets, Soviets did it to us.

I remember before Bush, there were absolutely no terrorist attacks against Americans. Oh damn, thats not right. Oh, how about we used to get along damned well with Europe. No, that doesn't quite fit either. We do now have soldiers in Iraq, dieing daily. That's a negative development, but then again, I haven't heard of any nutjobs running explosives filled Zodiacs into American ships. Well, crap. a d e p t, after Canada decided not to go to war on Iraq, some IS idiots started to boycott Canadian products or even not to sell things to Canadian. It goes the same for France. Come on. Again, if the US want to screw things up, why drag the rest that doesn't want to get involve.

I think this is another envidence that the US is forcing their values upon others country that don't agree with them. If Canada or France don't want to go, it's their choice, don't get all pissed about it. It's freedom of choice, so there... Geez...

Most of that is somewhat true. But you need to understand it's not the U.S. trying to do all this. It's the Bush administration. It's the jacked up governement we have running this place. It's part of Dubya's crusade to be the worlds "tough guy bada$$". Not the U.S.

The USA has done this one several times under different presidents, so the Clinton haters can claim this one too:

So Canada signs NAFTA (against the will of the Canadian people, and under rampant cries of US political force being brought to bear, but that is not the point). This sets a list of what tariffs can and can't be applied to oh, say, softwood lumber, one of Canada's huge exports.

So with the introduction of NAFTA, tariffs are removed from softwood lumber.

Canada proceeds to make lots of money selling softwood lumber to the USA.

The USA lumber industry complains it can't make as much profit any more.

The USA responds by slapping a huge tariff on Canadian softwood lumber.

The World Court in the Hague declares the USA in violation of NAFTA and orders the tariffs removed.

But why do they need to learn in the first place? Surely freedom is choosing the way you wish to live yourself? Not be dictated to by a more powerful nation and then threatened with invasion if you don't comply.

If communists want to stay communists for example, let them. If people don't want to embrace democracy, that's their choice. Why is the American way the only way to be free?

It's not about us changing the world governments. It's about changing the governments in the world that really oppress, torture or starve their population. We don’t try to change communists just because we don’t like the form of government, just like we don’t try to change Most of the European countries. But the one’s we have intervened needed the assistance, and we offered them democracy. Does it work well that way…well, no, but we are trying real hard! :)
