Same for me.Quote:

Considering I got my 5900 for $162 and have since overclocked it to perform about as well as a 5950, I don't think ATI holds the cheaper crown. The drivers are fairly reliable as long as you are running the official releases and not the latest betas. ATI is faster in many situations, but that doesn't make the Nvidia cards slow. I still believe that a very overclockable 5900NU for $162 is the best deal on the market, even six months after I bought it.Quote:

I'll stick with nNvidia from now on.
The 3dfx cards were great , but price and nVidia spoilt it
nvidia all the way here, It all depends on who builds the card, I had trouble with MSIs but I went back to Asus ( Gforce fx 5700 ) , Very good cards and no dust buster
I think it comes down to who can write good drivers, a card is as good as its driver
I did see good performance from the Radeon a friend had, He went to nvidia hmmmm Yip nvidia all the way , I have a fleet of them here
As i'm only a part-time gamer (BF, CS, Q3), my GF3 ti-500 I got for for $50 a year ago was the best cost for me.
Before that, a GF2MX-200 i paid $55 for was just fine for Q3 and CS.
Before that, an Ati Rage Fury Pro 8 meg card was just crap, but I still played CS on it.
But I'd go back to Ati in an instant, if building a new system.

Its actually easier to mod non-pro ati cards to ati pro cards as compared to nvidia
I have used video cards from both ATI and nVidia (actively using both brands now) and I have run into repeated problems with nVidia and have just decided to replace my GeForce3 Ti200 (I know it is old, but I don't have a need for fancy or fast on that machine).
I have been experiencing an increasing number BSODs ("Blue Screens of Death")on the nVidia machine (Dell Dimension 8200, 1GB RAM, 1.8GHz, XP Pro) and after a lot of research, it appears as if nVidia is the culprit. I have been pulling my hair out trying to find out what is causing the problem, is it hardware, software, planetary alignments . . . My research shows that others experience these apparently random BSODs (my BSODs have been under different conditions with many different stop codes, including 0A, 7A, 77, D0, 50, 23, 09 and more) and that it has been traced to nVidia cards.
The unified driver service of nVidia sounds like a good idea, but it has caused much more grief than its worth (I keep getting Windows update trying to replace the most recent version of the driver with a file that is almost a year older).
Anyway, today I opened up the display settings and went to make a modification and boom, another BSOD. This never happens on my other machines and consequently I am through with nVidia, at least for now.
If I still get these BSODs after I install the ATI card, I will post an update here, but at this point, I am convinced that the card is the problem.

Because of forums like this, reviews i've read, and problems I've heard about. Basically I'm just saying i don't have a customer loyalty toward Nvidia.Quote:

I like them both. They are both decent products with a few minor flaws in them, just like anything else. We all know from past experience that ATI's drivers can be flaky. But the same problem seems to be plaguing a lot of nvidia users recently. Myself at home I have all Nvidia cards, ranging from Riva TNT2 to one of the FX series, except one ATI All-in-wonder 128 card which I use to watch videos and play internet radio music on my TV/stereo system. I personally have never had a problem with Nvidia at all, and I think it may be because with both Nvidia and ATI cards, I stop all the crap from loading at startup. From other machines I've worked on, they programs they got running in the background are almost as bad as the one's Creative uses for their Soundblaster poop.
However, I recently got a chance to mess around with a ATI All-in-wonder 9600 Pro... O M G *drool*.... as far as I'm concerned that is the ultimate video card that I've had the pleasure to witness in action... I just wish I could afford the $600 CAD to get one...
