I disagree fully. While the economy is a colussus that takes time to respond to changes nonetheless it responds quite quickly to things like oil price hikes, tax cuts, deficits etc.
In fact just take the deficit. Putting the United States under such trememdous debt has made people fearful. They are putting their money into different places than if we had a balanced budget.
In fact it just took a couple of slight changes in the banking law that spawned the S and L disaster.

Tongue in cheek? You kept quoting it. And it was absolutely disrepectful. It was from a guy who is mentally ill. How does that help any discussion.
And while I will grant you that many of the groups and organisations on the site I linked to might be biased. At least it has articles and opinions by respected journalists and others.
When you click on the News you are taken to a page that lists stories and editorials in the Washington Post, New York Times, USA Today. And the links lead to the actual stories, not excerpted twisted versions.

I keep changing my sig because politics is not helped by little catch phases and slogans. I believe that many Americans have been sold on the idea they can make their political decisions based on "sound bites"
To understand an issue you must look at it from different angles.
You won't find me basing my support for a candidate or a party based on some simplistic slogans. I will keep changing my sig as the situation needs.

First off, every one of my links in this post (except for John Kerry History Page ) have been from CNN/Money. Definitely a right-wing leaning media outlet...NOT!!!

That's exactly why I quoted from them. If THEY would put out positive info about the Pres, then it must really be good news!

But it's always negative with you...Bush sux, Bush lied, anybodybutBush, blah, blah, blah.

And again, why don't you ever post a positive link about your candidate, whatzisname, John Kerry? Oh yeah, that's right... :grin:

No FACT posted in the CNN/Money link was questioned by me.
In fact I quoted them in my replies.
I also pointed out that the news was only good in relation to the fact that after such an extremely long period of very poor economic news it looked good.
And thats what I pointed out. That 248,000 jobs is nothing to brag about. We went 8 years of averaging over that amount etc.
The part about oil prices going down below 40 is good news. But it is up from less than 25 a year ago.
And you quoted a story about a poll by a large accounting firm.
The ONLY facts quoted by you indicate things are better than they were and were expected to get better. That is like saying 10 people died of starvation last year but only 9 this year. Lets have a party. When for 20 years only 2 people died of starvation. See how you are trying to make any positive news sound like things are good when they are still very bad. They have a long way to go to just get back to where we were before Bush took office.

btw the stock market is essentially at the same point it was when Bush took office. You may start talking about the good economy when it reaches 13,000 and when we get back the three million jobs we lost and then get an average of 288,000 for every month Bush is in office. And when our earning power gets back to where it was when Bush took office. And when the number of people without health insurance gets back to the rate it was when Bush took office.

Every time you are stuck for an answer you try the "Kerry just as bad, or worse"
Well, Bush had his chance and he screwed it up royally. Kerry advocates returning to our successful past policies. Not dramatic or inspiring, just practical and effective.
So mabye it doesn't sell as well as "were gonna turn the middle east into a health club"

KPMG argued that the information requested by the Justice Department was protected by accountant-client and attorney-client privilege. The case is still pending in federal court and in December 2003, the Justice Department accused KPMG of further withholding documents, saying that its actions "demonstrate a concerted pattern of obstruction and non-compliance, threatening the integrity of the IRS examination process."

So as you can see KPMG has a huge interest in showing that companies will make a profit next year. Because then their market for tax shelters will expand.
