Putting together a Glam CD!

thought te glam rock was a 70s thing ,,,so anything on its first release on cd is a load off bollocks,


like the
early 70s-80s stuff ,,,, espessialy hawkwing ,,etc ,,,oi just wonder

A: if ppl remember what glam rock was / is
b: where they even born during that period.


seems to me that a lot of names that have been suggested ,,,,are well after the "marc bolan" period ,,,,,,and I wonder if half the ppl actualy know the subject.

Seems to be a difference in what people call glam. I go with Freddy and tie it to the 1970's: TRex, NY Dolls, Gary Glitter, Mott the Hoople, Sweet

In the 70s, Frampton had that real glam thing going for a while. I thought he had teh gay.

Actually I thought that about all those glammers...I am a Southern Rocker.

Yeah, when I first posted in this thread (referring to Motley Crue) I was a little hesitant to refer to it as glam rock knowing what I know about the early days of glam/punk rock, based on what I've read Nikki Sixx talk about in the book.

Back when I was listening to it, I referred to it as heavy metal or rock. I still refer to it the same way, but now I just stick an "80's" in front of it. Then usually the word "hair band" will come up in a discussion like this. Then there's always sleeze rock like Faster Pussycat, LA Guns, Pretty Boy Floyd, etc. Either way, it all kicks a$$.

My favorite memories were taking trips down to LA in the late 80's-early 90's a couple times a year to hang out at the Whiskey A Go-Go on Sunset strip, and check out the latest cool bands. Ah those were the days.

While the BeeGees PROMOTED teh gay, I don't quite believe they really had it. The other folks you mention are right down the middle of teh gay, however.
IMHO

The only name that I can think of regarding teh gay would be Freddy Mercury.
