One may be related to the other...won't know til I get the Scuba Steve thing down....was on it last nite for a lil over 5 hours and didn't sleep well. They told me I may not for a few days til I get used to things. They did say 5 hours was a great first nite tho, that lots of times its more like 1-2 hours....So only time will tell!Quote:

I have an idea,.. try playing Doom 3 in the dark with nobody around. That should help you sleep,.. not! :p
Seriously though,.. I have some tips for this sleeping issue which I'll post later. I'm at home for lunch and have to get back now. But I have some really cool things for you to try. I'll post them when I get back on WD later.
Ok then,.. Dr Wrbby is in the house.
First thing we have to do is figure out the reason why you can't sleep. The good doctors that you are seeing have already diagnosed you with "sleep apnea" as being the cause. But what exactly is "sleep apnea"?
Lets find out...
http://www.sleepapnea.org/geninfo.html#defined
So now we know what the problem is. Thats great! But how do we fix it? Well the good doctors you are seeing are probably going to prescribe some medication because this condition is curable. And thats great too. I hope it works.
In the meantime,.. I have some other things to try. But first I need to find out a few things in order to properly offer my prescriptions to you.
PuterGeekGirl,.. Will you answer some quick questions for me please? (if none of this works,.. at least we'll have fun trying right? So humor me will ya? :p)
1> What did you consume today (eats , drinks)? Name everything please and the times of day you ate/drank them. Try and be as accurate as possible.
2> What time did lie down to go to sleep last night?
3> What time did you rise up to start your day today?
4> Do you sleep in a bed normally? Or do you fall asleep in other places such as chairs or couches?
5> In the evening, are there people around you? If so,.. how many?
6> What kind of weekday evening entertainment do you normally enjoy?
7> Please describe what types of physical activity you do during the week. Even if it's just walking from your car to your front door. Just name 2-4 things you do that require some form of physical activity.
8> What types of things do you think about while you are trying to fall asleep?
9> When was the last time you remember having a very nice long restful sleep?
10> Do you live in a house? Or an apartment?
Ok then,.. I know this seems like a lot,.. but Dr Wrbby will offer recommendations once you fill out this questionaire. I offer a 30 day satisfaction guarantee or your money back (it's free, so no loss). So come on! Try it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Wrbby can help. :)
Ok, First off they didn't prescribe meds...its treated with a cpap machine (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) More can be seen here: http://www.cpap.net/ You will now see why I'm known as Scuba Steve!...and thats what I'm currently using....So far (after nite #2) I've been able to average 5 hours a nite w/ it before I can't take anymore...last nite did go a lil better...Now...I'll answer your ?'s above.Quote:

Hello wrbby...I held up my end of the bargain? Come one, whats the diagnosis? :D :D
I hope all goes well for you with the machine. I wish my friend had had one last year.

But I don't feel unable to even move let alone stay awake as much today....so I think its starting to do something!
Oh yeah! I was gonna post last night,.. but I ended up going to the Niners game.Quote:

So look for it tonight ok? :)
EDIT:
I just read through it and I think I've got this one figured out mostly. I'll post my diagnosis tonight.
Just be glad it's not a Continuous Redundant Airway Pressure machine. Nothing worse than being hooked up to a CRAP machine.

Alrighty then,.. first thing I see here is that we need to form a daily routine for you. There are two ways you can do this,.. you can have a daily routine that you stick to every day or you can have two routines,.. one for the 5 day work week and the other for the weekend. I think we should go for one routine that suits your life and then modify it as needed. Yeah?
First, we need to explore the consumption of food/drinks. But first I want you to know that I am no health expert. I eat crap constantly. So I'm not going to tell you to stop eating crap. Thats up to you. But what I WILL tell you is that we need to cut off the soda consumption after 5pm. This also includes any food/drinks that contain excess sugar, fat, caffeine, bubbles, etc. Once 5pm hits,.. no more soda for PGG. And no alcohol, no candy. It's all about milk after that. Can you drink milk? If not, then we will explore alternatives. You can also have a snack, but it must be small. If you have too much in your tummy when it's time for sleepy-pies, then your body expends energy to digest the food. We really don't want the body to do anything when we're trying to sleep. So keep food/drinks to a minimum after 5pm.
Next is the sleep time. Basically you are trying to rest your mind and body for 9 hours by starting at 9:30pm and ending at around 6:30am. Thats way too many hours to allow for lying down time. This might be tough, but could be the most important part to focus on. Instead, set your alarm clock for 6:30am to wake up. But don't even attempt to go to sleep until 11:30pm. Just veg out and watch TV. Or read something. Or even better, pop in a DVD that you've seen a gazillion times. One that you will just zone out on. You basically need your mind to focus on something other than the fact that your not sleeping.
Now then,.. you are chillin, watching a DVD, drinking your milk and possibly zoning out and maybe even feeling a little sleepy. So you turn off the tv, and then go lie down in your bed. The lights go out, head hits the pillow. Your eyes close and you start thinking, "Ah,.. tonight I feel tired and I'm sure I will go to sleep". But you don't instead, you keep thinking these thoughts and eventually it's 3am and now you're stressing, "Oh no,.. another day of being really tired!". So you finally fall asleep, but you only end up with like 3.5-4 hours. And it wasn't even a good sleep. But don't worry,.. Wrbby's here to help...
I want you to know, that what I am saying here in this post will not magically make you sleep tonight. Over the course of a few days/weeks,.. you have to get your mind into a routine. Right now is tough because you are moving. This only adds to the stress which is going to make this tougher. But you can do it.
Lie down,... close your eyes,... imagine that you are lying on a sandy beach on a warm beach towel. The sun is hitting you, there is a cool breeze gusting through the palm trees and you hear the waves moving. Imagine this place. Every once in awhile you will lose it and think about how your are not sleeping. But go back to this place. Before attempting to fall asleep,.. sit on the couch and feel comfortable. Watch a movie and just zone out on it until your eyes feel heavy. Don't worry if you fall asleep on the couch because you will wakeup at some point.
Don't force yourself to go to sleep early just because you want to give yourself a head start on sleep. It won't work. Let your mind and body fall asleep when they are ready to fall asleep.
Anyway,... try some of this,... think about this,.. let me know how this goes... I want to stay updated on this. And btw,.. the reason I am posting all this is because I have had sleeping troubles all my life. Within the last couple years,... these are some of the things I do to help myself fall asleep. Now I can practically fall asleep at the computer while playing a game.
Read this incredibly long post. That should put you to sleep. :)
That was actually an abnormal day, I generally don't drink soda that late anymore...if at all. Its usually water.....I don't eat anything after dinner which is usually done by 5:30 pm at the latest..
as for going to sleep when I am tired..thats what I do!!! Doesn't help!!! Nothing does....well cept Scuba Steve, I think he's actually helping some!
But..now on to the moving thing....moved most things yesterday....and in the process I broke my ankle (again)....
I can't win right now..........
