OK, when the camera is plugged in you should have a source which mentions DV. It will also have the webcam option and the analogue TV in option.
Device manager - classic view control panel, system
Category view control panel > performance and maintenance > system
Or right click my computer, select properties
That will show you your service pack level and click on hardware tab, then device manager button for device manager.
It's Service Pack 2, and under Device Manager, it says 'AVC Compliant DV Recorder'.Quote:

Thanks to whoever suggested installing the orangeware WebCamDV software (ttp://www.orangeware.com/) ... it worked a treat and probably saved me hours of heartache probably followed by the disposal of me JVC GR-D72U
My laptop was working fine uoploading video. I wanted to use my camcorder as a web cam so I purchased and downloaded webcamdv software. It worked fine for about 24 hrs. Now All I get is that big stupid logo. Also I can not upload any video now. Just that stupid logo. I have uninstalled and reinstalled webcamdv a half dozen times and still nothing.
I have a half dozen camcorders and none of them work.
When I try and reconfigure my laptop to its original settings, Windows xp will not evan recognize the camcorder. So now I have to use the software just to get the stupid logo. Very Pissed!
Can someone please help?

I suggest you use ccleaner to check for registry entries. You could also try using system restore - and go back to before you installed webcamdv.
By the sounds of it, your trial ran out and you tried to uninstall it after that.
