point out to her that doilies require washing regularly as they build up dust and dirt thereby increasing output of waste water into an already overloaded local ecology. If, on the other hand, she used wipeable surfaces such as coasters to protect furniture, she would be doing her bit for the environment.

Alternatively, just yacht varnish all wood - that will save you having to repair french polished surfaces from careless hot cups and cold cans. A thick enough coat will also protect the wood underneath being scratched because various computer components were put down for a sec while you picked up your coffee or beer. :thumbs2:

Antimacassas... and yes I hate them... having said that, when people come round and sit on the chairs and lean back with their beautifully waxed hair, depositing most of the gungy wax on the chair, I find myself wishing I had one or two.
