WOW! Who dragged up this old thread with a vote? Well as long as its here, here's my thought. I have never purchased from TigerDirect and probably never will. I have heard so much bad from them on so many occasions that they seem too high a risk too me. When not purchasing stuff locally, I almost always go with newegg. I have always been completely happy with them.
hmm my first thread...thats from a long time ago...
i just use newegg for everything, got a box from them today!
Well, as long as we are dredging up old threads (and re-opening old wounds), Tiger Direct isn't a company I'd do business with. I have seen them mis-represent merchandise, and ship obvious refurbs without identifying them as such. In the U.S., at least, refurbs cannot legally be sold as "new" equipment. I have one client who purchased a system from TD which never arrived, and TD never replaced it or refunded the buyer's money. Fortunately, it was a credit card transaction and he disputed the charge. Tiger could produce neither a tracking number nor a signature for the "delivered" computer.
For online vendors, I don't think you can beat Newegg, but Amazon has some good deals on certain items. Fry's is competitive on price, but they have so many brick and mortar stores that most customers are going to pay sales tax, and their shipping charges are too high. Some of the old guard e-tailers like Insight are so disconnected from reality as to be a joke. Only useful for fairly obscure items.
with only a 5 out of 10 rating at Reseller Ratings i wouldnt trust em.
