Why Should I Stop Using Internet Explorer?

I never said I let other people on the internet without an AV, when I spec out **** for other people, I always have them include the AV.

As is, I am running a stolen version of 2000, so no ****ing firewall. As is, I have no legal copies of AV, and I don't trust anything other then Norton or McAfee, say what you will, but the big dogs catch the nasty **** first. As to date, the only virus I have ever caught was behind a firewall running AV. I don't spend money on this stuff, never have, never will.

**** off. All of you, except for NooNoo. 4 ****ing years through the worst of the virus's and nothing. What does that say?

Doesn't matter, you people don't listen. I said I will deal with the consequences if something happens to me, I don't if it happens to anyone else. I just don't care enough. Do you people even come close to getting a clue why I will not post outside of the lounge? You don't listen in here, why would you listen to the way I do things, have done things professionally for 6 years? Every single time I have posted a problem, you haven't been able to help. It really says something to me, it really does. One of the many reasons I keep strongly thinking of leaving the field.

Im hideing be hide not less than 3 firewalls one of which is checking content as it enters (this is my home setup).

At work I will soon have every segment filtering to try and contain the damage this means that each PC will ahve not less than 4 firewalls and 2 AV's to get through before it gets to the internet.

I friend of my from the pet shop begged me to find out why her PC was so slow on her cable connection.

I looked over it. AV was way out of date (never updated and 2 years old) and she had no firewall, no router. Using IE and outlook express and XP (not updated). I instantly guessed, virus and spyware.

No virus. Not much spyware, just tracking cookies... She had been running that way for a couple months with cable and a year before that on DSL. Just an FYI.

All I can say is, no big surprises here at all.....

Honestly, your attitude sucks so ****ing bad. You are so set in your little ways that you can't even comprehend that someone might be as good as you or even better at this line of work, and that other ways might work for them, while it doesn't for you.

Might be ****ing nice that you bought a book 10+ years ago and have been running your tech life by that book and you have had some success. I grew up with this ****, **** face cokc lick, it is a ****ing art form. Nothing always works the same, you make it up as you go, constantly learning. It doesn't mean **** if I had 2, 4 6, 10, or 20 ****ing years, it constanlty changes and things are never totally the same. I am sharing what works and has worked for me, even though I do have to make sure I keep the windows updated and had started to run adaware or spybot once every 3 or 4 months.

You didn't even bother to notice the fact that I don't let other people do what I do. I am a pro, yet your head is so far up your copmuters a$$ you couldn't aknowleged that I do this for major corporations day in and day out, and you only had to focus on what I do at home. I don't care what people do at home, that is piddly **** compared to keeping a company up 24/7. I worry about my charges and myself, that is it.

I think Cleetus needs a cooling off period. He's excessively abrasive, and insulting a number of members multiple times. I don’t care that asterisks are filtering out the profanity; I am purely offended. I think 2 months would be adequate. What do the rest of you think? I especially want to hear from the dip****s, dumb****s, and ****heads… :p

cleetus is right, just because you step outside someones ultra paranoid home protection scheme doesn't make your opinion wrong. It is not a good setup for relular users or businesses. But i am neither a basic user or at a business when i'm at home. I demand a serure system that is fast, and i've found one that works for me.

I just like to throw in a lot of curse words casue when you do that, you see if people can read past that at all. Majority of people who can't get past someone doing something different are also so closed minded that they can't get past some cursewords either.
