BRB with some questions.
As part of an entry test into a geek club a special test was devised.
50 applicants were placed into a darkened room, each with a coloured baseball cap upon their head. These baseball caps came in two colours, red and green, however, no applicant knew the colour of their own cap.
The applicants were not allowed to communicate in any way. Their task was to assemble outside, in a line, with those wearing red caps on one side and those wearing green on the other.
How did this achieve this?
__________
The first two out stood anywhere they liked.
The next applicant looked at the line so far, if all of the caps were the same colour, they stood at either end of the line. Otherwise they stood at the position where the colours of the caps changed from red to green.
Persons # 1 and 2 walk forward and turn around to face the others.Quote:

I have a machine which has four cog wheels in constant mesh. The largest cog has 165 teeth and the others have 45, 40 and 32 respectively.
How many revolutions must the largest cog make before each of the cogs is back in its starting position?
__________
The largest cog will do 96 rotations.
Actually, I meant if person #1 and #2 have the same or different colors, he stands to either side regardless. Then, everybody follows suit, joining in where the 2 colors meet.Quote:

it's simply a matter of finding a number that has all of the number of teeth is divisors ... that being said it's to boring a task for me to plug away at.
the largest cog will do 96 rotation
the 45 teeth cog will do 352
the 40 teeth cog will do 396
the 32 teeth cog will do 495
