Ah, good.
The gang's all here.
In a room measuring 15 metres by 15 metres by 15 metres is - or rather was - displayed a famous diamond. The room is made of concrete blocks and the floor is covered with a thick carpet.
The only thing in the room is the diamond, housed under a glass cube. Said cube stands on a 1 metre pedestal located in the middle of the room.
Alarm wires spaced 8 centimetres apart and running parallel to each other run under the carpet. The alarm will trigger if more than 4 kilograms of pressure is applied to any individual wire.
Our thief, a lad of 74 kilograms, was able to obtain the diamond by using the following equipment:If you can tell us how he pulled off the heist, you'll join our crew as tactician for our next job.
- 5 metre long 2x4 board
- 4 leather straps (each 2 metres long and 5 centimetres wide)
- 1 hammer
- 1 saw
__________
Our thief first cuts the 5 meter long 2x4 in half with his saw. He then uses the leather straps to lash the boards to his feet.
He is then able to walk across the room on the boards, because his weight is distributed across the now 2.5m long 2x4s. With his 74kg of weight distributed across 2.5 meters, the total weight on each wire is less than 4kg thereby not setting off the alarm.
He is then able to walk directly up to the glass and break it with the hammer, taking the diamond.
