While pouring a very hot liquid into a glass, which is more likely to shatter: a wine glass or a beer mug?
__________
Surprisingly enough, the thick glass is more likely to crack since glass is a poor conductor of heat. In a thin glass, the heat passes more quickly from the glass into the surrounding air, causing the glass to expand equally.
When hot water is poured into a thick glass, the inner surface expands, but the outer surface does not. It is this extreme stress on the glass that causes it to crack.
the beer mug because it can contain more of this hot liquid therefore destroying the mug.Quote:

The beer mug. The glass on the mug is thicker than a wine glass. Therefore when the liquid is poured in, the inside of the mug will heat up and expand faster than the outside of the mug. The pressure from the expansion can cause the mug to break. The wine glass will adjust to the temperature easier.Quote:

Bastard guy... I was thinking that last night at work. Figuring because of the thickness of the glass it can't dissapate the heat quickly enough. I was gonna test the theory but then I thought about how I break enough glasses as it is with out trying... Let us give a moment of silence for the four martini glasses that gave there lives last night in the line of duty, we can grab more from the store room, but we can not replace you.Quote:

The 'Soul-Ace Hotel' held its annual car rally. Sandy Beach was the favourite to win since she won the last three years in a row.
Also in the race was Duncan Drivel, Art Bragg and Hardy Pyle. Duncan, who finished three places in front of last place Hardy Pyle, came two places in front of seventh place Art Bragg.
How many people were in the rally?
__________
8.
eight (8)
Simple reason being, if Duncan came in three places ahead of last, and two ahead of 7th...then that means there were 8 contenders...

A horse travels a certain distance each day.
Strangely enough, two of its legs travel 30 kilometres each day and the other two legs travel nearly 31 kilometres.
It would seem that two of the horse's legs must be almost a kilometre ahead of the other two legs, but of course this is not the case.
Since the horse is quite normal, how is this situation possible?
__________
The horse is walking in a continuous circle.
The two inside legs would be traversing a smaller circumference circle than the two outside legs. So the two outside legs are covering more distance

This one might be a little controversial in its reasoning, but what the heck.
The coach of the college baseball team, Buck Knox, was checking the residence grounds to be certain his players were in by curfew.
Suddenly, he heard a loud crash and turned to catch a glimpse of a man running into the residence. Buck thought it was his star right-handed pitcher, Art Dodger, but he couldn't be sure.
Buck went to Art's room and opened the door. Art Dodger stood in the middle of the room, his right leg in his pants and his left leg out. Art, looking at the wrist watch on his left arm said, "I heard a loud crash and was just getting dressed to see what happened," he stammered. "Forget the bull," said Buck, "I'm certain it was you who just ran in here. For that little caper, you won't by playing tomorrow."
How could Buck Knox be so certain it was Art who had been out after curfew?
__________
The reasoning is because he is right handed. When putting on pants, you normally put your dominant foot in first and take it out first. Your dominant foot is the opposite of your hand.
Therefore, if he was getting up, his left leg would have been in his pants.
It's comments like that that drive me to drinking. :sad:Quote:

After a thorough search of the area, the police recovered a suicide note, the pen Dr. Probe used to write it, a book of matches, an old coin, an empty potato chip bag and a package of hot dogs and buns.
Since nothing else was discovered, Shadow was certain Dr. Probe was murdered elsewhere and his body moved to the suicide scene.
Why?
__________
No cherry pits at the scene indicates that they were eaten elsewhere.
There were no cherry pits at the scene.Quote:
