You have in your pockets a coin, a magnet, paper, scissors, and paper clips.
What test can you do to prove whether you are on a rotating space ship?
(a) Spin the coin.
(b) The magnet will not magnetize the paper clips
(c) The paper will not form seams if folded
__________
(a) Try to spin the coin. It will refuse to spin.
By conservation of angular momentum, a spinning object tries to maintain its position in space. The coin will keep changing its orientation to correct its angular momentum, and will topple and fall.
Spin the coin.Quote:

Some cyclists rode their bicycles up and down a hill for a total trip of 40 Km. They averaged 10 Kph (kilometres per hour) on the way up and 20 Kph on the way down.
What is their average speed for the entire trip?
__________
13.33 Kph. It takes twice as long to go up as it does to go down.
Assuming the peak of the hill is the middle... 20 km on both sides..Quote:

I've probably screwed this up since it's not a whole number...
