Need to increase resolution & color to 256

As I mentioned in the other thread that got locked, if you have sound through your speakers, and can get sound by plugging directly to the front of the cd-rom drive, you most likely just need to connect an audio cable from the back of your cd-rom drive to the sound card. You could also double check your sound settings and make sure the cd-rom volume control isn't muted or turned the whole way down.

or the digital sound box has become unchecked...

I believe her problem was stated that she could hear a CD with headphones plugged into the CDROM but not through the speakers. I believe she needs the audio driver from the Dell website for Win98.
