as mentionned previously I cant reach any web pages that are related to virus or such. therefore symantec gave me my usual error page.
Spybot i got but its one of the few antivirus or antispyware taht jsut wont work no more. or update or redownload. so no luck with that either
-
Right then you have only one option left. Back up what data you have, then restore to factory condition.... unless of course you can get the updates and AV etc using another computer.
-
yeah got spybot just wont work this week or update. all my antivirus or spyware doctor wont upgrade. tried redownloding spybot and during installation I always get an error message telling me error sending request. the connection with the server was reset. therefore that wont work and has mentionned before cant get to any antirvirus pages!

Check the HOST file to see if there are entries to block those sites. They will usually add them lower down on the host file so it shows the legitimate 127.0.0.1 localhost
If you select page down on the keyboard and it shows a bunch of entries then you need to clean those entries from the host file.
-
That might work futuretech... nbabe here are the instructions
-
this didnt work
I dont have the same options then u guys so i dont know how to do it
if i go on desktop i dont get that same window that u guys showed me I can only paste the target and then it created on my desktop a notepad file. there was no option for that start option. I never got that host editor page or window....
Here is what got written in notepad that way
Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
dunno if this is correct or if im misssing step
a freind did a research and told me sdfix might help me but i dont know how to run that

The HOST file is found in the windows system32 drivers etc directory.
Double click my computer
double click c: drive
double click windows
double click system32
double click Drivers
double click ETC
RIGHT Click HOST
edit
If it has a scroll bar on the right slide it down and see if any entries are showing.
Some virus's put entries to every known anti virus site in the host file which prevents you from getting to their sites.
-
ok did what u said. when i right click on Host there is no edit options. so what do i do
-
you open the file in notepad. Edit using notepad and save it again.
-
still the same I right click o nhost choose open with notepad and it opened notepad and the info was the same in edit there is no option for copying or pasting....so what now. BTW im a newbie so...got no clue what you guys make me do.

If all else fails download sysclean and its newest definitions and do an off line virus scan.
http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/tsc/sysclean.com
http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/produc...ern/lpt661.zip
Creat a folder called sysclean and download sysclean.com into the folder and then download the lpt661.zip and extract it in that folder as well.
Then double click the sysclean.com file and it will start the offline virus scan engine.
-
yeah i cant get to any of those websites...so i cant get no new stuff to fix this problem..my firend only sent me via email sdfix.
-
Then you are back to backing up your data and then restoring your machine to factory settings.
-
Ok my friend emailed it to me and I ran it it found 7 viruses it mentionned at the end but im not sure all are gone
Stillcannot upgrade or go to those webpages... anyone is then familiar with this thread and the steps to it? Because i got sdfix but i do not see the Y option in cmd mode
