I would stick at 2.2 as well. The big question is, does the bios now recognise the 500GB SATA drive?
We will find out soon. Keep you informed.
Rather disappointingly: no, the disk is not recognised. So we are back where we started.
Hi - I know I said I'd back out BUT I did think to ask if that is a Sata II drive.
If it is, jumper it to Sata 1.
I will look at it.
Does the drive actually spin up when you attach it? Have you booted with the Diagnostic disk for the drive to see if the diagnostics can see it?
I went to the shop where I bought the disk. They attached it to a PC and the drive was recognised. They formatted the drive and I took it home, back in the PC and nothing. It does spin, the previous 160 GB drive is recognised.
Are you using the same sata port as the 160gb? Tried another? What port number is it?
You only have two ports... what bios settings do you have set for RAID and SATA? Are you trying to connect both drives at the same time or just the one?
I'll dive into it tomorrow.
Did you ask them about the Sata 1 jumper setting?
No sorry, I forgot. Will do.
Be sure to write down so you can tell them: you have an MSI K8TNeo FSR that supports Serial ATA/150 using the controller integrated into the VT8237 chip.
Thank you. With all your help we will solve this problem!
OK, I can start the Windows setup, but I need to install the SATA RAID Driver during the setup, but if I press F6 nothing happens. I have a working floppy drive now.
