Sam Sham sells designer water bottles in the Middle East. One day he loaded his canoe full of designer water bottles and paddled off down the solitary river which meanders its way through the barren sand.
Sam's customary business practice consists of stacking the bottles on one side of a huge set of balance scales and the nomads piling gold on the other. When the scales balance, the transaction is complete.
One day Sam met a nomadic group at the edge of the river and began doing business. Unfortunately for Sam, the scales broke. Since there was nothing around but sand, Sam couldn't think of any fair way to weigh the bottles.
He was just getting into his canoe to paddle off, when someone had a brilliant idea. What was the idea that would allow them to accurately weigh and exchange the designer water for the gold?
__________
He puts a mark on the outside of the canoe to where the water level is,
removes the bottles from the canoe which will get lighter and go up. Then he will put gold in the canoe until the mark is down to water level again.
They used his canoe, stack bottles in one end , gold in the other put it in the water and see when it was level.Quote:

Non-mathematical really. Means that there is a sequence from the previous number of :Quote:

Find the next entry in the sequence:
I
A
Fa
Farms
Pharmacy
Pharmacopoeia
Pharmoneuropsychology
This question has a special point value of 10 because of complexity. http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/sagrin.gif
__________
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
The question is presenting words in increasing length - a Fibonacci sequence. There actually is a missing entry on this. Each word's length is equal to the sum of the two previous word's lengths.
I = 1
A = 1 + 0 = 1
Fa = 1 + 1 = 2
Missing word = 2 + 1 = 3
Farms = 3 + 2 = 5
Pharmacy = 5 + 3 = 8
Pharmacopoeia = 8 + 5 = 13
Pharmoneuropsychology = 13 + 8 = 21
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious = 21 + 13 = 34
pharmoneuropsychiatryQuote:

Questions 179 and 180 still require attention, along with 189.
Still up, Machodkis? :D
No one got yours yet.
Yep, just goin' back and checkin on the two unresolved ones... been away for too long :)
Glyph, for 179.
Finally.Quote:

My bad.
That was 4 since it wasn't part of my initial list.
180: Traditionalists, Traditionalisms?
180 again:
I think there are too many possibilities using this -ism / -ist scheme...
fundamentalists, fundamentalisms.

8 points total (2x4) because I was too lazy to do my own check up on that one. :p
And just to be generally annoying and to beat my point to death:
experimentalism, experimentalist
instrumentalism, instrumentalist
intellectualism, intellectualist
multilateralism, multilateralist
And the real whopper, a three-way:
conventionalist, conventionalism, conventionalise (if accepted, though infrequent, spellings are allowable)
:)
You bass-turd... https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gifQuote:

Lol, sorry, hadn't noticed the change. It's alright, I didn't really care about the points. Like I said, was just posting those for emphasis :)
I guess now I can get to work trying to think of the "real" answer :)
That still brought you up 2 spots in the ladder. https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
How about... nationalization and rationalization?
Another for 179: cysts
