It's a dog eat dog world out there, and there isn't enough dog to go around. So get as much dog as you can before all the dogs gone.
I'm 33 and got into this field 5 years ago but it hasn't been until the last year and a half that it has begun to get sickening with the speed of computers coming out onto the market and the introduction of Windows ME.

Newly 16. Just got my permit, and I'm looking at a license in January. For now, though, I'm one of the few people here who still needs to be driven somewhere to fix a computer. https://forums.windrivers.com/

39 now 40 in December. UGH. Like many others I started back in the punchcard days when a computer filled a room. Got my first Dos machine back in "84". I learn something new everyday or is it I relearn something new everyday, I can't remember. Now, will someone show me where the Any Key is?

Good grief - I guess that I'm the old lady! When a deadline looms or systems/servers are down, I'm 101. On a normal day, I'm only a baby - 51!

You might want to be careful, you might have everyone emailing you with proposals. Most computer geeks (like I am) would love to have a computer savvy significant other! ;-)Quote:

I have reached the age of maturity and responsibility, or so I've been told...
Turned 30 last July and now the real learning begins!

I started when servicing computers when a $250K, 6MHz processor, 32k memory, 10MB storage, 60 cu.ft. mini was fancy equipment. I still have a slightly upgraded '84 vintage 10MHz NEC V20 (8088 compatible) with 2MB 120ns RAM and 240ms 20MB drive that I sometimes use to write DOS utilities and my newer AMD 950, 256MB, 92GB machine runs them pretty darn quick.
All this time worth it? Probably not.

I'm 23, sound like I'm 30, and look like I'm 18. Customers will call in, they sound real excited to be getting help when I talk w/ them. Tell them to bring their system in. They walk in the door, I introduce myself, and you can see it in their eyes. HaHa. People don't like handing over their Systems to someone that looks 18. I'm sure I can do a better job than most out there. But they don't know that, untill they pick-up their system. I did have an OLD customer once, about 65-70. He said, most of the time he tells people to talk to him like a 12 year old, but in this situation, a 12 was likely to know more than he, so then he said talk to him like a 70 year old... haha... thought that was funny, seems to be the case most the time too........

I'm 47, been working on computers since 1973 when I dropped out of College because working in the music lab gave me the idea that I liked electronics more than music. I'd been building electronic gizwidgets since I was about 12.

My dear Mr. Draggar, Thank you ever so much ! But I really am not looking to share my New BMW or my life with anyone at the present time. Maybe when I sell my condo and buy a nice House it will be time to think about a significant other but that will be a few years into the future. Now It's time to make Money ! But thank you for the offer https://forums.windrivers.com/Quote:

I'm 19, been going at the computer thing since I was six or seven years old.
Grew up with a parent that was VERY wanted in the field at that time! It hurts me when I have to show him what to do on the computer
My first science project for school (69, i think)was a white board (canvas) with capcitors, and the discription of the above.
He now comes and visits and I don't see my computer for a week at a time 'cause he's playing at pogo.com
