PSAPI.DLL error message

I'm very computer illiterate! I'm not sure when I started getting this message, but it pops up when I log on to my computer and also when I attempt to open my MusicMatch program. I also get the message "Ordinal 2250 could not be located in the dynamic link library PX.dll." Therefore, I cannot open and use the MusicMatch program or play the music that has been downloaded to that program. I've contacted Tech Support with Music Match, uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, but that did not correct the problem. They don't seem to know what to do next either and neither do I. Any help?

i tried it and it has worked. so might i add many thanks to everyone who have posted fixes. it may be just a thought try checking the folder options. when in my computer if you click on tools option i cant remember the tab name but check that you can find hidden files and folders. it may be worth trying a more extensive in depth search on the machine. if you still have no luck remove the web assistant that comes with your isp

Where was the psapi.dll that you renamed located?
If you click on ie7 and it doesn't open, then you have way more problems than just a bad dll floating around your system.

Ordinal 2250 could not be located in the dynamic link library PX.dll is not confined to musicmatch - it is a problem with divx, yahoo music and others. It would imply that the px.dll is corrupt and one post I read stated that the music database could be corrupt.

Find your copy of px.dll and right click on it for properties, then look on the digital signatures tab and see which company made this file. Then go back to music match support and ask them if that is the correct version of px.dll for musicmatch.

I'm clueless as to how to find my copy of px.dll. Where or how do I find it?

follow the instructions for psapi.dll, but type in px.dll in step 12 and leave out step 10 altogether. This will have the effect of searching your entire c: drive.

hy all...

i can see that i am the only one who has this problem but with only one psapi.dll file...the one in system 32. what can i do? i get this error everytime when i open a program...yahoo messenger or utorrent...

What ISP do you have?
Is this XP sp2?
What version psapi.dll do you have? (right click the file, select properties, click on the version tab, click on the file version in the item list and on the right will be displayed the version
"5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)" is the version that is shipped with windows. If it is that version, then somewhere you DO have another version of psapi.dll. If it is not the version, you need to extract a new version from your XP cd. here is how use method 1 if you can.

after hours of searching looking reading, i finally managed to get rid of it. i scaned with regclean, disable some startup programs from ms config, dowloaded a new version of psapi.dll and now it works. :)

Worked perfect! I had an Ergodex, with what must have been an old PSAPI. When i unplug the thing my system is happy, plug it in and my system nags about PSAPI.DLL. So i unplugged it, renamed the DLL and plugged back in. Now everything Works!! Thanks!:thumbs2:

Thank you to Stuinn's great advice posted June 6, 2006. It worked!
If you have the alert Smartbridge alert-no access point found, use Stuinn's advice to go to my computer/ program files/ (your internet provider- mine was SBC) and then look for the PSAPI.DLL file and rename it PSAPIOLD.DLL

I just read all 12 pages of this and gleaned sooo much info. Thanks to Stuinn and NooNoo for the explicit instructions. I did it and, voila!!, it worked!! And I know NOTHING about what I'm doing. Good instructions!!!!!!! It wasn't really a problem, but terribly annoying. Now, it's gone!!!....Thanks again and keep up the good work. (I've been putting up with that stupid box everytime I start up for probably a year now!!!)

Just want to join all those who found that Stuinn's directions worked - changed the file names, went away for a few days (coincidentally!) and since getting back - no annoying error messages of any sort. So thanks from me too.

Hello everyone im new but i have the same error.This all started when I installed BitDefender 10 for a full scan.It scanned everything and at that time I had another error (can't remember it) and it fixed it.Now when i restarted the computer this error appear on a thing called MOM.exe.I thought it was bitdefender's fault so I uninstalled it.Then a few days later it started on Xfire,Steam (although it doesn't give that exact message it does give something like it) and DAP that won't start at all.Now i follow instructions from another guy to delete all instances of Psapi.dll that were not in system32.I did that and restarted.The errror persisted and now it extended to my yahoo messenger.I am going crazy.I dunno what else to do.I think that bitdefender saw a virus or something in Psapi.dll and it disenfected it and corrupted it somehow.I'm going crazy here.Could i replace a new Psapi.dll with the old one or something?Please help im desprate!

Mom.exe comes with your ATI video drivers... which according to some, happens to be the same name as a known keylogger/trojan... You need to update/reinstall your catalysts and make sure you get them from here

Also you should have renamed, not deleted psapi.dll. You need to run sfc /scannow with your xp disk to put it back or follow these instructions

Having done that, go to windows updates and download the updates it suggests.

hi everyone, just wanted to thank everyone for their help.

what fixed it for me is getting a copy of psapi.dll from dll dump - I highly recommend it... much easier than reverting.

This is a problem between Internet Explorer 7 and Verizon Online Help. If you have installed Verizon broadband, especially if you used the cd, you have installed Verizon Online Help. Go to the control panel/add remove programs. Remove Verizon Online Help, which you don't need anyway since you can get online help by going to Verizon Central. That will solve your problem.

Have you read the thread and tried the fix?
What ISP do you have?
Have you searched for psapi.dll on your computer?

I renamed all psapi.dll files I found, except the one in system32 and that didn't work. After that I installed windows internet explorer 8 beta and that acctually worked :)
Everything is ok now :)

You will want to have it emulating IE7 for a few pages, especially those with javascript pick lists... but otherwise it's ok.

I get the following error message when the system is booting up:

The PSAPI.dll is linked to a missing export NTDLL.dll:NtAllocateVirtualMemory

I read that others had a similar problem, so have tried the solutions offered, such as:
1) Restarting in DOS and typing "Scanreg/fix"
2) Start/Run "MSCONFIG" and reviewing the items checked that open at startup, but don't know which program is causing this error message to appear, so don't know what to "un-check"

This is for a Windows98, PII/128 system.

Does the machine start up? How about in safe mode?

At the starting windows the error message will pop up and says " rundll32. EXE - entry point not found mscvirt.dll " and after i click ok , it will pop up again says the same message.

please guys help me .. i don't know what to do
