Actually I have just spent an hour looking for evidence, I agree, there is no way a man who managed to get out from under so many questionable deeds can be called a retard. Thank you for giving me a reason to read up on his life and works. As I said before politics does not equate to altruism.

If not, then, we aren't really at war. I will admit, that I've stopped reading the newspaper and watching the news on television, so I might have missed Congress' declaration.</strong><hr></blockquote>
If I remember right, "war" has not been officialy declared since WWII. ALl of the presidents since that time, both Reb and Dem, have spread their constitutional powers further and further. We as citizens have helped the perception of the president as all powerful to the point that he only has to have order the troops and they can go. The act of "Declaring War" in America is as dead as Gary Condits political career.
It is kind of sad, but if you look at how the constitution was framed, the president was suppossed to only be a figure head that signed the bill. The real power was to be held by congress, and guess what, it still is. We just feel the need to blame one person, but it is the congress the passes budgets, the congress that ok's the judges and the presidential staff, the congress that passes and writes the laws.
Then you look at the staff the Bush has surrounded himself with and he himself verified that he delegates everything to them. Notice how he used this tactic to get out of any wrong doing with Enron.
Bush is also tied to many different intrest groups from NRA to Energy firms, from the various churches to the armed forces. He is being pulled in many directions while his staff is doing all the real work.
Now, tie all of this with the fact that he doesn't write his own speeches with the terrible results he had when doing speeches on the fly. Throw in a dab of more vacation time than anyone else in the freeworld, and yes I come up with the opinion that he might be a puppet.
Please do not call me unamerican, uninformed, or whatever else might be thought up in a knee jerk response. Personally I think by searching for the perfect American president, the American people have pushed away any who might really be competent enough to do the job.

Don't even get me started on Special Interest Groups....

I'm sure you can pay someone to figure out plausible excuses.... :)

on a tangent....
Why do we still have an Electoral College? Isn't it about time that we dismantled it?

I haven't weighed in on this subject, but have been reading the post. I do have a couple of observations. First as the father of a handicapped, but cognitive young man, who has been sitting here with me reading some of these post, he is wondering about the constant use of the word retard (it's a word he understands all too well :( ). I've told him it's just a word and not worry about it.
Secondly, as with other's I am a registered Independent. I did not vote for Mr. Bush. That being said the intelligence question was an issue during the campaign in 2000. The ironic thing was is that actually Mr. Bush's score was about 9 points higher than Mr. Gore. I'm not sure what that means, maybe the dubya can put more uselss facts to rote than Mr. Gore. Heck my IQ would be 38 points higher than Mr. Bush's and I wouldn't want his job (I like taking Arctic pictures). Remember Albert Einstien was a certified genius, but kicked out of school as unteachable.

That doesn't make us bad or conceited...it is just a fact of life. All of those countries admire America and want to live like Americans but they still point to all of our faults just the same. Believe me, I have been around the world a couple of different times, to lots of different countries and they all love our freedoms and ability to do what we want. They want to dress like us, drive cars like us, live in a nice house like us...but sadly, their economies and political structures do not allow this.
Also, we seem to value life more than most of the world. Wiping out thousands of innocent people in a sneak attack doesn't seem to effect the third-world as that number dies everyday due to malnutrition and disease.
If you want to consider us as arrogant, that's fine with me...we have earned everything that we have.
And, stop putting down our President! He is doing a super job under less than ideal circumstances. Yes, he stumbles over his words sometimes but he is not a buffoon...he is a human being.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Amen.

Exsqueeze me but hasn't GWB decided to make a return to the politics of 1 1/2 decades ago, the bad old days? When a good war made a leader popular, when Maggie and Ronnie were in power, a quick bash at the Argentinians made Maggie as popular as a popular thing. I, for one, do not condone violence against other countries in the case of eradicating terrorism. I see innocent people, from poor societies with limmited education being the victims here. This is what breeds hate and future terrorists.

What about wresting nuclear arms out of hostile and unpredictable countries? Do the needs out way the many then?
I believe so.
The lives lost from a nuclear war involving Iraq and Israel would be greater than the brainwashed victims of a UN assault on Iraq beforehand.

Yeah.. I just call him "Pants-less Horny Bill", but from a world perspective, I had a lot more respect for him, than I do that current meat puppet.

You are excused sir. In my opinion, GWB is doing is duty and job as the Pres of the USA in retaliating against this horrible act of terroism against us. He is not just trying to pick a fight. I believe in turning the other cheek, but there are obvious times when you fight back this being on of them. Another thing, about breeding hate and future terroists has a lot to do with propaganda thrown to the people by spiteful leaders.
I think for one GWB is an intelligent man. I admit he is not the most but who is. Also, just because the man doesn't speak with poetic eloquence doesn't mean he is unintelligent. The man has got a mind and he has gotten to where he is with a little help from his friends but most importantly his know how and will to do it. He needs to be respected as any President of the USA should be. I personally agree with a lot of his beliefs and I think we need to put God back into this country like we had when our fore-fathers founded and established it. God Bless America and God Bless you all. Willy Paycheck

Their little "war" with Argentina was their attempt to hold on to what little bit of colonialism they had left. Plus, the Britts took a big hurt when their destroyer was blasted with an Exocet missile. I really did hurt for them also...I'm not kidding...I was in the U.S. Navy at the time and I hurt for any sailors biting the big one.
But this war on terrorism is different...it's all been said before so I won't go into it all again.

As an aside on the subject of the Bush IQ, I gather he flew jets in the National Guard. Presumably a working brain is required to get a pilot's license? Let's face it, anybody responsible for an expensive plane isn't going to let an idiot fly it. (If I were an American citizen, my sympathies would lie with the Democrats rather than the Republicans, just trying to be open minded about those I disagree with).
