How was Ishmael able to remove the diamond from the box without any special tools or help?
__________
The same way Ali Bubba did it: by placing the boz upside down and sliding the lid just far enough to slide the diamond out.
by sliding the lid only far enough for the ring to slide out and then tilt the box over until the ring falls outQuote:

Cecil Breath left the 'Soul-Ace Hotel' at a walking speed of two kilometres per hour. One hour later, Bob Slack and his dog left the 'Soul-Ace Hotel'.
Bob wanted to catch up to Cecil and therefore set a pace of four kph. His dog was rather excited and ran back and forth between Cecil and Bob, travelling at a speed of ten kph.
When Bob finally caught up to Cecil, how far had the dog run?
__________
Ten kilometres.
Bob left one hour later than Cecil, and was walking at a pace that would allow him to catch up to Cecil in one hour. Since the dog was running for one hour at ten kph, he ran ten kilometres.

Granny Smith, who was leaving London, boarded a train at four minutes past the hour.
After boarding, she stuck her head out of the window and shouted to the ticket man, "How far are we from Edinburgh?" "All trains take five hours either way," he replied. "How many trains shall I meet on the way?" asked Granny.
"A train leaves Edinburgh at five minutes past the hour, every hour" answered the ticket man as Granny mumbled about the difficulty of getting a straight answer these days.
How many trains will Granny Smith meet?
__________
Nine.
When Granny Smith leaves London, there are four trains on the way and a fifth train just starting out. Granny will meet all of these. Also, another train will start when she has gone 1/5 of the distance, another at 2/ 5, another at 3/5, another at 4/5. When she reaches Edinburgh, a train will be at the point of starting. If we assume that she does not meet this one on the way, or meet the one that arrived at London as she left, she will have met nine trains altogether.
You said the snake was intact. I presume that means you gave him a full examination, because with all that shaking around I am sure the snake had a concussion...Quote:

Pete Polyester is a used car salesman. He sold half his cars plus one more to his first customer of the day.
To the second customer, he sold half of the remainder plus one more.
To the third customer, he sold half the remainder plus one more; and to the fourth customer, he sold half the remainder plus one more.
Pete was now the proud salesman on an empty car lot.
How many cars did Pete have for sale at the start of this fantastic day?
__________
Thirty.
The trick is to work backwards. On his fourth and final sale he sells half of his remainder plus one more, leaving him with zero. Therefore we know that he sold one plus one more on the fourth sale. On the third sale he sold half of six, plus one more which left him with two for the fourth sale. On the second sale he sold half of 14 plus one more which left him with six for the third sale. Therefore, on the first sale he sold half of 30 plus one more which left him with 14 for the second sale.

If only one of their statements is true, how many camels does Abdullah own?
__________
Abdullah doesn't own any camels.
If the first statement is true, then so is the last statement, which cannot be, since there is only one true statement. Also, if the last statement is true, then so is the second statement. Since we know that two statements cannot be correct, we can disregard both the first and the third statements. This leaves us with only the middle statement. If Abdullah owns any camels at all, it will make the third statement correct, so the only number of camels that Abdullah can own is zero.
he owns 0, which would make the statement he owns fewer than 100 true. if he owned more than 100 it would make statement 1 and 3 true. if he own any amount from 1 to 100 it would make statement 2 and 3 trueQuote:

There is, however, a simple way to make the cork float, and remain, in the centre of the glass.
What is it?
__________
Put more water in the glass after placing the cork in it, so that that the water is slightly curved, being higher in the center of the glass than around the edges. The cork, since it floats, will float to the highest point in the water.
