Ok, maybe I'm a little slow today, but what does the TV being off have to do with anything? Just because the reading lights came on and the TV stayed off doesn't mean a thing. All the new TVs these days are simply turned on via an electric button. Meaning that if it is on and you unplug it or the power goes out, it will stay off when the power returns.

...unless you have an old TV with the old style buttons that either pull out or push in (but that wasn't noted in this scenario). Then the switch is always on if it is pushed in or pulled out (depending on how the swtich functions). Get what I'm saying here?

The case is still open and pending. 10 points to me for proving you both wrong. :cool:

In the first situation, the measurement was distance so the runner would finish much earlier than the person walking; therefore, the amount of energy spent would be approximately the same. In the second situation, the measurement is time, and a person who runs for ten minutes will cover a much greater distance and therefore burn more energy than a person walking for ten minutes.

1 point?! What the heck, I just proved edball's conclusion to be inconclusive. For heaven's sake, there's a man's innocence at risk here. I proved that he could possibly be innocent and therefore should not be be accused of such crime unless the evidence was stacked against him. In this case, the only thing pinning him to the murder was the fact that the TV did not come back on. "Sorry sir, since your TV did not come back on, you are guilty."

More information would need to be gathered in order for a decisive conclusion to be made. Such as what he was doing while they were watching TV, where was he in the room at the time of the murder, were there any witnesses who could account for what happened (perhaps someone walking down the street seen or heard something), finger prints, lie detector test, etc. The scenario is too open ended and therefore no points should be given to anyone except for me for proving that the accusations to be inconclusive.

Again, 10 points for me for effectively proving edball's theory incorrect and proving that ADEPT needs to have more conclusive murder scenarios.

i agree with spork on this most if not all tv's will not turn back on after being unplug or power outage. the only question i have is how of are these questions that you are geting adept. when were these written that would help prove your point a little better. they do seem quit old in some of the wording and scenarios.
