My prayers are going out to the families of the innocent victims that senselessly perished today. The plane passengers and crews, firefighters and cops, office workers, and the servicemen and women at the Pentagon.
I will pray in gratitude that my daughter is safe in Europe. She flew from Boston to Rome last week to visit her mother. I'm leaning on telling her to stay there for a while.
Like the rest of the nation, I am stunned, sickened, in a state of disbelief, and outraged at the magnitude of todays events.
I will send letters to my Congressman, and Senator insisting that the U.S. take the appropriate action once the terrorists are located. In my opinion, the appropriate action is swift, violent, and painful death to those behind the attack.

Today is Spetember 11, 2001 or 9-11-01. 911 if you will.
I am deeply saddened with the great tradegy that befell upon this great land of ours.
Things that come to my mind are "national security", "central intelligence", "FAA", government. Where were they today, what were they doing? Did they have their "thumb up their a**?"
As a citizen I am outraged that this could have happened, but not overly suprised that it did. With the trade center garage bombing years ago, the Oklahoma City bombing, some guy crashing his plane on the white house lawn not all that long ago. this goes to show us that the events that happened today were possible.
I agree with the president that justice should be served to the guilty party(s). If it is Bin Ladin, let him endure the fate that happened to all the victims in both world trade towers today. Let justice not be clouded by vengence.
I hope this does not spark a world war. Maybe revoke a buttload of visa's on foreigners in the country, as we do not know what else if anything could happen in the days ahead.
I am not a religous person but I offer my sympathy's to all the people and families affected by this great tradegy. Let us as a nation come together in this time of crisis to get through these dark hours.

The sacrificial action of the terrorists is definitely the Mid-East style political expression. Comparison to Kamikaze attack is somewhat off the mark, as Japanese pilots crashed their planes into American ships as a last act of defiance after being shot down or running out of ammunition. Also, this was done during battle, NOT as an act of terrorism.
I can hold little or no pity for "poor, downtrodden, oppressed" countries. I presently rent a house that should have been condemned and torn down two years before I moved in (TWELVE YEARS AGO!!), it has an unsafe well, improper septic tank, sub-code plumbing and sub-code electrical wiring. Any "luxuries" I have, I EARNED; I work for a living. DON'T tell me I don't appreciate the standard of living in this country as compared to others; I go to work, I earn my wage and I live by the laws of this country. I keep to myself and do my best to live and let live.

Death for those who did this is a logical choice in my mind, not because of any purpose of revenge, but to keep them from hatching this kind of plan ever again. I agree that it is not out job to exact revenge. I also agree there would be a great deal of satisfaction in the public torture of these people. But, justice isn't about either of those things. Justice in America is about right, wrong, and protecting the one we choose to live by. I know I will sleep better when these people have been put to death. It is one more fear taken out of the world.

Although this violent act of terrorism with blatant disregard for human life must be dealt with - and dealt with severely, it serves no purpose to start pointing fingers toward a particular ethnic group or belief system.
Bush's speech tonight did not leave any doubt that any country aiding the perpetrators will be fair game for reprisals.

I apologize for my harsh comments to Texas Joe back on page 8 of this thread. I just find it hard to believe that he has any real patriotism. I spent six years in the Navy and have been around the world a couple of different times and have seen a lot things. I know the U.S. is not liked in a good chunk of the world but asking us to "look at ourselves" is just idiotic.

Today is a sad day in the U.S. I have listened to it on the radio and tv at work all day today. It was a quiet day as well where I was, probably because the horrific situation. Was the rest of the U.S. at a standstill where everyone else worked???
Anyways, my heart goes out to the people who were in any way related to this tragedy.
I think they should definitely kick some butt against those responsible, but rescue efforts should be top priority 1st.
There may be some good news in all of this, news reports say there are still some people alive under the twin towers rubble and debris. They have confirmed this because those under there have used their cell phones to contact loved ones to get help. Amazing they are able to get through with all the phone line congestion. Chances that some of those missing 200 firefighters or 85 police officers may be alive under there as well. Reporters showed night pictures of the smoldering twin tower rubble, not a pretty scene at all. https://forums.windrivers.com/
This was definitely a well calculated and planned tactic by whomever was responsible. This just goes to show that wherever we are, there is no 100% safe place. This is a wakeup call for the democratic coutries to take note. We are vulnerable. The airports in Canada have closed down as well for now, thank goodness they accepted all those airliners as well as Mexico.
The Saskatoon Airport took in some planes as well and in Regina as well. I can assure our fellow Americans that those who are stranded here will definitley be welcome with Saskatchewan hospitality and we'll help in any way possible just like the other province, coutries, states and so on. There are blood giving centers open to take donations here to help in the rescue efforts.
I hope that there will be some light at the end of this dark tunnel.

I read on page 9 or so that someone said that Israel has the most to benefit from this tragedy. That has to be the sickest thing I've heard in a long time.
The difficult part now (aside from the rescue and cleanup) is to decide who is to blame and how to punish them. Keep in mind that bin Laden does not represent Afghanistan although they have been very complicit in hiding him and helping him run his network. If the US attacks Afghanistan, are they going to attack Pakistan, which holds enormous influence on the Taleban and bin Laden? If they attack Pakistan, is Pakistan going to respond with nukes. If they do, is India going to nuke Pakistan. I'm sure you can all see where this is going.

Why in GOD'S name are they celebrating the death of COUNTLESS thousands of people, innocent people. What would posses such a gutless, ignorant, and tragic response from these people? Are they so BLINDED by religious hatred fed to them by their deviant leaders that they think this is something to CELEBRATE over? It goes to tell you something about a society and more specifically a group of people when they celebrate in the mist of death and carnage of INNOCENT people. Do you think any American's celebrated when we dropped the A-Bomb's on two locations in Japan? We celebrated when they declared surrender, but we did not celebrate at the massive loss of life that the Japanese endured.
