On reading carefully, I decided nothing is known as the daughter does not confirm or deny that her name is Susan. The question says "how could he know?" but it does not relate to the information as is.

Perhaps I should have indicated that his statement was true, to make it clearer?

Damn I can never get back here during the day in time to answer half the questions =/ What's kinda funny as I read that question I just assumed that his freind was a woman and thought either the question was too easy or just a trick question.
