Clarification:
I’m not suggesting that today’s act was anything less then horrific and criminal and certainly the ones involved have committed an act that stoops to the lowest of mankind’s barbarism.
On the other hand I am not dismissing the pain and suffering we as a nation have brought upon some of the less fortunate in the world (study your history with an open mind).
Look, I can sit here and rant about revenge; that’s easy, it comes natural. I’m just saying that it would be the most productive if we reexamine ourselves as a nation and consider whether or not our agenda is in the best interest of the world or just in America.
On a personal note for Neuromancer (who I think probably meant Necromancer which is a being with the power to influence the future, of course he may have meant Neuromancer, which means nothing).

I well refrain from addressing you with obscenities. Obviously you and I see differently on this subject but it’s safe to say that we’re both appalled by this monstrous act.
As far as you and I are concerned; you severely underestimate me. I don’t appreciate your attack on me and the language you used. I am by far some soft pompous professor sitting on his butt. In fact I’m a nightclub operator, one of the biggest in Texas. In the past 18 years I’ve seen a considerable amount of violence and often found myself in the center of it. I’ve seen irrational behavior first hand and have learned to respond calmly and carefully to attacks on me. If your compelled to attack me I’d prefer you did it in person, flying to Florida is of little consequence to me and can do so at the drop of a hat. If you’d like to arrange a meeting my email is [email protected].
I’d like to keep this forum calm and sensible so I encourage you to bring our differences to a more private forum.

I can't confirm it, but in all of the info hunting I was doing I believe I read something about all of the AWACS aircraft being scrambled.
Prolly at DEFCON 3. and if not now, will be by tomorrow.

I feel I must quietly and politely disagree with twelve and Texas Joe. The US has always given several warnings before finally launching an actual attack. The attacks today were not explained or preluded to in any way; what message are the attackers trying to convey? Terrorism is vastly different from taking a legitimate stand for your beliefs.
The US cannot be held responsible for the deplorable conditions in other countries.
In fact, when the US tries to lend a hand we're told that we are "butting in" on the poor country's business and should let them make their own way without pushy, obnoxious yankee interference. "Just give us your American dollars and go away!"
Imagine what shape most countries would be in if America yanked the purse-strings tight and cut off all aid to anyone but America.
The crux of the matter is, we have been attacked by a terrorist group. Whether foreign or domestic, the reaction will swift and blinding in its severity. Woe be those truly responsible and those foolish enough to claim to be.

God, what a tragedy. I am hurt for the children who won't have parents tonight...for the mothers who won't have their children...for the wives whose husbands aren't coming home...for the husbands who will be alone. This kind of senseless, willful, calculated mass violence cannot come from even the darkest place in a human being's soul. It is absolutely soulless in its irrationality. Kill innocent people to get the attention of other people? Like beating up me because you're mad at John. Illogical and unforgivable.

Necromancer = ("necro" meaning "dead") one who conjures the spirits of the dead for purposes of revealing the future or influencing the course of events
...so, I would think...

Something we need to consider.
If these people were so bold as to crash airliners in to buildings what else are they capable of? How do we know that these attacks were the only efforts made by these people? What concerns me is biological. We have no way, at this point, of knowing whether or not we’ve been attacked biologically. It’s subtle and deadly.
Any experts on the subject?
