I don't know if this helps but I listened to most of today's events on Fox News Radio on the local Tucson Station. Some of the radio host mentioned that they had moved their studio broadcasting from Washington D.C. down to Richmond, VA.
My wife has been glued to CBS TV all day. I have been watching Fox News on the Dish Network for most of this evening.

My heart goes out to all those involved and all who had loved ones there.
Being ex-army, I'm feeling really angry and want to lash out at Bin Laden...but then I think about the OK City bombing. At first, everyone pointed their fingers at the Middle East but after further review, it turned out to be a US Citizen. Even though I think this came from Bin Laden, it would be a shame to just strike whatever country that is there for the picking when it is just a terrorist organization at work that has itself spread out in various countries. I really liked the way GW specified any state that housed terrorist folks were "fair game". I really hope this time we don't just slap the perps of this crime on the wrists. It's about time we stand up for ourselves and quit taking crap from other countries and start taking care of our selves.
This forum is for voicing opinions. Remember that opinions are like...err...noses, yeah, noses...they all smell (OK bad joke).
We as Americans (shout out to all you non-Americans who are voicing their support!!)should be sticking together... right now more than ever! Who cares what unit in the Army we were in. We were all there and at one time or another had each others back. This is a time to put our differences aside and as a collective group... keep a cool head, find out who was involved and then... OPEN A CAN OF WHOOOOP *** ON THOSE RESPONSIBLE!!!
Take care everyone.

what possiblity does the black box have to be recovered, i have been told that they are made indestructable, but i remmber the TWA flight just over a year ago, there black box was almost not recoverable.
Its a terrible age we live in now, i want to go back to protecting myself from the latest virus and forget about low flying planes.

It's a new day in my country. All our problems seem so small now compared to the problems and suffering of the US. This silly and horrific act has affected everyone all over the world. To my American mates on this forum, although I don't know you, my thoughts are with you guys.
What do you guys think would of happened had they found out the second or third plane before it struck? Do you think they would of scrambled your jet fighters and shot it out of the sky, civilians and all? I can only imagine what must go through the mind of the person that would of had to make that decision!

It will take some time to find those black boxes if they are all in one piece.
The explosions and crumbling buildings will for sure test the durability of those black boxes to the limits. I'm pretty sure the fbi and cia are already gathering those tapes from owners who taped the whole epsiode with their home video cameras to gather evidence and are using the Boston airport security tapes to search for any suspects caught on camera.
Theses groups have more resources now than ever including a new website just put up hours ago to get tips from the witnesses.
Hopefully we'll get an answer real soon.
But the rescue efforts should be top priority for now.

I keep hearing this news, and like everyone else, hope that I will be able to wake up from this nightmare.
CNN.com now has footage of the first plane hitting the WTC tower 1, in addition to the other one.
As for the local network stations being out in NYC, most local networks except for CBS had their tower on top of the 1st tower of the WTC, which is no longer broadcasting. CBS has their transmitter on top of the empire state building (washingtonpost.com story)
I for one will be forever changed by these events. Right now, the record for the largest one day loss of life in the US is the battle of Antietam, with over 23,000 killed or wounded. "Consider that Antietam resulted in nine times as many Americans killed or wounded (23,000 soldiers) as took place on June 6, 1944--D-day, the so-called "longest day" of World War II.* Also consider that more soldiers were killed and wounded at the Battle of Antietam than the deaths of all Americans in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican War, and Spanish-American War combined." (National Park Service Web Site)
We can only hope that we don't reach that magnitude of casualties.
High ranking IT executives killed in plane that hit WTC. Story here...

Whilst I would not wish to condone the terrorist action discussed here it may be that the Palestinians burning USA flags etc about which you complain, are somewhat agrieved about their treatment by the USA, in particular about the support given to creating the state of Israel in their homeland.
Just as you are now agrieved and have cause, so have they.

Do anybody know what it feels like knowing that the government of your country (yeah, that piece of land in the world which you learn to love no matter what) is in its place because represents benefit to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?
Why don't you ask people from Cuba, Panama, Argentina, VietNam, Laos, Camboya, and so many other etcetera, that i'm too much stressed to name, what it feels like in the deepest of your heart to know that all the things that they tech you... to vote, to respect democracy are just CRAP.
That, in fact, the people who killed 30.000 of your mom, dads, brothers, friends and neighbors were trained by the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF THIS MASSACRE.
I am just trying to tell you how people feel about the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA troughout the world.
My condolencies to all americans.

El Barto was here
Unfortunately, Rotten doesn't have his facts straight. First off, the US had nothing to do with the creation of Israel... that was done completely by the UK. The Palestinians never had a homeland per say, actually that area was split into Jordan and Israel by the British anxious to resolve the political pressure that was on them.
Now, to justify this sort of horror by saying, "well that attack was bad, but it was America's fault in the first place" is wrong and almost evil. There is absolutely no justification for any attack on anyone, let alone an attack on this scale. And to start blaming Israel for a terrorist attack in the US is misguided. It's like punching someone and blaming them for the punch because they're friends with someone else.

My heart and prayers are out to those affected by this act of cowardness. We pray for a end to this madness, and a swift and desrving punishment. GOD bless all those who didn't deserve any of this today.
moment of silence..........
What we need now is to stick together and support one and other. No matter who did what to provoke or aide in this sick act of war, it is not tolerated. They have ruined families, friends and loved ones. I have heard many time since watching the news that this is being caompared to Pearl Harbor. They are right....in fact it could be considered worse when you look at casualities, destruction and aftereffects. But let it be known that once again, "they have awoken a sleeping giant" and justice will prevail.

Things to do when bored at Wal-Mart:

Short history lesson:
The horrors of the Holocaust produced world sympathy for European Jewry and for Zionism, and although Britain still refused to admit 100,000 Jewish survivors to Palestine, many survivors of the Nazi death camps found their way there illegally. Various plans for solving the Palestine problem were rejected by one party or the other. Britain finally declared the mandate unworkable and turned the problem over to the United Nations in April 1947. The Jews and the Palestinians prepared for a showdown.
Although the Palestinians outnumbered the Jews (1,300,000 to 600,000), the latter were better prepared. They had a semiautonomous government, led by David Ben-Gurion, and their military, the Haganah, was well trained and experienced. The Palestinians, on the other hand, had never recovered from the Arab revolt, and most of their leaders were in exile. The Mufti of Jerusalem, their principal spokesman, refused to accept Jewish statehood. When the UN proposed partition in November 1947, he rejected the plan while the Jews accepted it. In the military struggle that followed, the Palestinians were defeated. Terrorism was used on both sides.
The state of Israel was established on May 14, 1948. Five Arab armies, coming to the aid of the Palestinians, immediately attacked it. Israeli forces defeated the Arab armies, and Israel enlarged its territory. Jordan took the West Bank of the Jordan River, and Egypt took the Gaza Strip.
The war produced 780,000 Palestinian refugees. About half probably left out of fear and panic, while the rest were forced out to make room for Jewish immigrants from Europe and from the Arab world. The disinherited Palestinians spread throughout the neighboring countries, where they have maintained their Palestinian national identity and the desire to return to their homeland. http://encarta.msn.com
Here in Israel we feel your losses and I express my deepest condolences to all America and the families of those affected directly by the heinous events that took place yestrday. I am from Chicago originally, and I have family in NY (some in Manhattan). It was horrible yesterday trying to call to see if my cousins are ok and not being able to get a phone line into the US.
We all are mortified by the pictures we see in the papers, TV and Internet. We have held prayer sessions after work to pray for the victims well-being and everyone has een deeply affected by this.
Be strong.

I wonder why the the cowards that put these people on those planes that took those planes to their destructions come forth and give their life and say "We did it" .. "I did it"
If your belief is so honrable and right then tell the world.
Tell the whole world who you are.
All I can say for those who cheered this kind of attack on innocent people of our great nation behind their backs.
You will not go unnoticed. We will not forget.
Life must go on . But we will grieve and remember all that has happened and our childrens children will know.
I continue to grieve and pray for our fellow Americans who are lost.

I just heard that at least one of the potential perpetrators was coming through Canada or actually a Canadian citizen. Unfortunately our lax laws are favourable to terrorists fund raising and organizing. I hope that our government will use this tragedy to tighten up our immigration policies and make Canada less favourable to terrorists.

Hunt them down and kill them like the dogs they are wherever they may be........and if a country or group assists or offers then safe harbor.....eradicate them too.

The FBI is asking anyone who taped the event from the street to send in their tapes. They think that facial expressions on some people may lead to find out who it was. That only makes me think that some people that were on the street may have seen some people not grieving but instead happy or smiling. That's scary.

What can you say it’s beyond belief especially sitting here in the UK watching the tragic images on TV at first with disbelief then with total outrage and anger but so fare away and feeling total helpless, but I know the US will find out who did it and then, well I hope they do so much damage to the f***ing cowards and the country or countries that hide the sh*ts that there never heard of again. I’d like to end by saying that my and everybody else hart go out to the American people but you will come through it and win because the people responsible will be dead soon.

Hey Rotten, apology accepted. It's just been a really rough time for everyone so emotions are running rampant.
Just a further note on your short history lesson: Palestine as a country never really existed in this context. The word Palestine comes from Phillistine which was an ancient people that lived in the region. When the Romans took over that area, they wanted to delete any reference to the Israelites that they could, so they renamed it Palestine. They did this because the Phillistines were an ancient foe of the Israelites, and I guess that the Romans were into irony. The Palestinians took their name from the region, not the other way around, therefore they have no historical claim to the land. Furthermore, as was mentioned in an earlier post, the Arabs ruled the current Israel for 22 years; hardly a valid historical claim on a land.
Note to everyone: If my history is wrong, please correct it, just don't attack me.
