That is an excellent point you're making.

There:

Submitted questions I use in the game are worth 5 points from now on, with a maximum number of player questions used of 2 per day.

Question 370 - RESOLVED

There are seven coins which look identical.

One of the seven coins weighs slightly less than the other six.

Using a balance scale, how could you determine which is the light coin in just two weighings?

I believe there are 2 possible answers to this, so each is worth 3 points.

Option 1:
Place 3 coins on each side of the balance. If the scale is even then the 7th coin not weighed is the lesser one. If the scale is uneven, take the less weighted side and reweigh two of the coins. Same scenario. If they are even, the one left out is the lesser, otherwise you could tell between the two on the scale.

Option 2:
You break the seven coins into a group of three and a group of four. First you weigh the four coins, two on each side of the balance. If the light coin is in those four, the balance will be uneven. You would then take the lighter side and just weigh those two coins to find the light one. If the four coins happen to balance out exactly, you know the light coin is in the group of three you didn't weigh. You then pick two of those three to weigh. If they are even the third coin is the light one. If they are uneven, the light side of the scale is the light coin.

These two ropes were just far enough apart from each other that if Dee held one of them by its end and reached for the other it would still be a half meter beyond his reach.

Using only a knife, Dee Septor was able to tie the ends of the two ropes together and still leave them attached to the ceiling.

How?

Dee Septor did not use the knife in the conventional manner.
He tied the knife to one end of one of the ropes and then swung it like a pendulum. By holding the other rope at its full length, he was able to grasp the two ends and tie them together.

It'll be rough, but I guess I'll just have to tough it out on the beach in Mexico, and drink away my depression of being without MindTrap with lots of tequila. :cool:

It was Monday morning when Shadow responded to a call at a local garage where a tragic accident had just occurred.

One of the owners of the garage, Cam Overhead, had been crushed while working on a car. Apparently, the idling car accidently went into gear and crushed him.

The dead man's partner, Sam Sham, was the only witness to the accident. Scattered about the scene were tools, oil rags, and a puddle of dirty oil. "I had just finished my coffee and was checking out the stock listings in the morning newspaper when I heard a scream and a loud crash," explained Sam.

"I ran out to the service area and found Cam pinned to the wall. I jumped in the car and backed it up, but I was too late. He was already dead."

Shadow looked at Sham and said, "From what I've seen, that story is a lie!"

Why?

Sam said he heard a scream and a loud crash. He would have heard the crash first followed by the scream.

I'm so excited too. Seven days in Cancun/Cozumel, two of which are business related, so hotel and airfare are paid for. This will be the first vacation I've had in about 7 years, not counting unemployment, which as adept can atest to, is not exactly fun and relaxing. :p

I hereby officially attest by this statement that 11 months out of work was nowhere near as enjoyable as 7 days in Cancun.
