Stupid Stupid Stupid users

Heres a funny one..

Service order had the following orders to do on the list
1. check DVD/CDRW (combo drive)
2. Check floppy
3. check video

fine right? I open up the box get the video go to fine..give it a few reboots to make sure and its pickin up ok, now onto the floppy drive, i look down at the motherboard and the "Floppy" controller was empty..no wonder floppy drive didnt work right? So i looked up at the floppy and did sort of a double take.. Why the Hell is there a cable on the floppy when the motherboard slot is empty i asked myself.... The idiot had daisy chained his floppy drive and his DVD/CDRW Combo on the same IDE channel..the floppy was causing the burner not to show up, and the floppy wasn't hooked up right..... some people i swear!

and then his fan siezed while the machine was on and cpu burnt up.

Have you ever considered that without the idiot do-it-yourselfers in the world to screw things up, you'd be out of a job? Sounds like job security to me... <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

dumb people rule. they keep me and the virus writers in business. I cleaned 6 infections of hybris, 4 of sircam, 2 of choke and 2 of subseven off 6 different machines today. Also sold 6 copies of NAV 2001 today as well.

Gotta love 'em! They keep us employed. Our firewall admin/ e-mail admin just loves it when people get viruses, especially when the dang thing is publicl announced in the newspapers and CNN. He tends to mutter things about darwin and evolution at that time. He has no pity on them, but that is because he's a bit peeved because he has to go set up some new rule for the exchange servers or check the log on what's coming in and out of the firewall or something. I love it because it is almost like knowing that someone will get one and waiting to gets the newest one. Each time it is another user down ( to update their antivirus program because they think the definitions and scan engine have been updating them selves every day for the last three years! ) and hundreds left to fix. Sure, we know that there are droves of users that need updating, but we wait for the real excuse that way they don't make all kinds of excuses to ignore us and the upgrade they need.
Gotta love them users!

Aye. I love this job. I love being A+ Certified even more... :D :p HAHAHAHA. I could do this job ALLLL day, and still not kill the users I'm supposed to help.

i had one user who'd forced a 512kb cache stick from an old elonex machine into a 72pin slot needless to say there was alot of smoke pouring out of the machine...

Am I the only one who has ever had to deal with a non booting machine because someone left a floppy with data only on it in the drive?

I received a call from an old guy who had just purchased a new computer from our store.

User: Hi, my name is ID10T and I just brought my computer home and set it up and there seems to be a problem with my keyboard.
Me: What seems to be the problem sir?
U: The keyboard keeps typing asterisks.
M: That's strange, when does this happen?
U: When I'm typing in my password for AOL.
M: Oh, well sir it is supposed to that.
U: Why?
M: Well it keeps other people from seeing your password, when you type it in.
U: But, I live alone.
M. Well sir the computer does not know that.
U: Well how do I know that I'm typing in the right password.
M: Type in your password very slowly.
U: OK, thanks.

Thank god for stupid users, if they were all as competent as us we would be in the unemployment line.
