Just how many of the posts in this forum are actually posted by working/qualified techs?
I'd guess less than 10%.
Some of the questions are so basic, even a raw A+ dropout could answer them.
Some of them are so advanced, most MCSE's probably can't answer...
part time job as a retail tech and full time job i work for the state in the ITT department have my mcse and a+..
so do i quilfy to be here ?

My vote, based on the advice i have received here, is more along the lines of 75%.
At least in tech-to-tech and the lounge.

I am a tech as well-- self taught no certification.... too busy with wife and house to studying for anything! :rolleyes:
I do phone support & bench work on systems that we build and sell... also have a side business as well....
Tech-ing has been my sole means of support for over 15 years now. And full-time is a joke! I average well over 60 hours a week and have for several years now.
Systems admin and tech. Most of the responses I've seen from long time members, mods, tech gods and gods in training show quite extensive knowledge. I'd say percentage for techs well over 50%
I am an MCSE and employed as a Network Administrator. I have had a lot of questions answered here and really think it's important to hear experience from every walk of life - no matter how qualified you are. No one starts out with all the answers.
Yes, I am a tech. Went to school but have learned much more from the "on the job" experiences and yes, from all the great help received here in the forum. Remember it only sounds like a stupid question if you already know the answer and if so, then just share your knowledge!!
on site tech at a very large manufacturing company. been on this location for 3+ years now. just small certs. and 5 credits short of an associates degree, but yes, i am a real tech. 40 hours a week baby.
Been Teching for over 30 years, in one form or another.
Have a degree in Electronics Technology and have completed all my MSCE courses.
I too am way too busy, at this point in my life, with a wife, three teenagers, a house and a full time job in the IS Services Department of the world leader in Personal Protective equipment to be doing any studying as well.
So yeah, I figure I'm pretty well qualified to be here. I've also learned alot from my colleagues here and hopefully, I've helped out others here who've been stumped by the wide ranging types of problems that all of us "Professional Techs" are faced with on a day-to-day basis!

I have posted some stupid questions I am sure. I hold my MCSE, MCP+I, A+ & CNA. With or without formal education, nobody knows it all...

Say, I also work for a financial institution as a Project Manager, but I have done my time as a Desktop Support Tech, NTSA and Network Admin.Quote:

One year schooling, one and a half years full time technician, A+ certified, spent most of my life fiddling with computers as well...
