Damn it works........I have to say XP RC1 has been pretty good so far,The network part is plain and simple.I would like to know some people problems they may be expeirencing. Although I don't think we needed another OS right now it makes for Job security for me.People will be upgrading all the time and I Get to fix it .Yeah for me! LOL <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">
I'm running Beta2 and so far, it has been solid. I wish that I could change networks on the fly w/o reboot. ie. join domains and switch between them w/o rebooting.
I'll download RC1 if its out and let you know.

Finally found some time to load up XP beta 2.
Could have sworn it was loading NT for a few seconds. I havent ha time to play with it the way I want to but so far it seems ok. Is it what microsoft has been raving about?

lets see...convince the public (half who shount own a computer to begin with) that XP is what you HAVE to have, charge them $180 a pop, all for what? Buttons?

Other than the fact that it is a conglomeration of NT,WIN2000 with some 98 and Me threw in for good measure, It has been working good for us. I havnt seen RC1 yet but I doubt that it is much different that Beta2 and if I understand MS right then the 15 minutes @1.2 Mb download that automaticaly occured Friday then I should have RC1. I did have to go in and reset all my network profiles and policies. Other than that XP has been cool. Question is< Are we going to be able to buy it or are we going to purchase a yearly site license?Quote:

Signed up for and downloaded RC1 this week. Yes it took me all week on my 56K <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> CRC checked and burned it, then put it on my test box. Installation found all my hardware except the hardware modem and (strangely) one of the two 3COM 10/100 NICs in the machine. Velocity 4400, SB 128 PCI, and the other 3COM 10/100 along with Highpoint ATA100 controller were OK. It is way slower than 98SE on the machine though. I think M$ still hasn't even tried to work out the problems with NT-based OS and AMD processor platforms. Overall I'm not impressed with the performance, but the stability has been great, the only crash was when I loaded my Scanjet 4200C (and I still haven't got it working yet.)
One new feature I like--native support for CDRW.
Things I don't like: No support for my Microtek Scanner; Logitech iTouch keyboard; Roxio EasyCD Platinum or DirectCD5; ATI Multimedia (no TV tuning); BSOD and reboots (longest it ran without rebooting--about 30 minutes).
I thought I'd give it a good test but too many things I use alot with W2K cause "an IRQ Storm" (an interesting message for a BSOD) with XP. I guess I'll take one more look when RC2 is released and then wait and see how everything shakes out.
one thing: this is based on nt? - less stable than ME!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

One question? are you doing a raw install on a seperate HD or are you loading over ME or 98.?
I got my email today and am downloading RC1 right now. I can't wait to see it run.
