My Dilemma

Ok, here goes....I am going to be done with college in a few weeks...debating on whether or not to actually attend the graduation ceremony. I have been going for about 2 years at night, getting my networking degree (Associates). It has been a major undertaking...not many people attend the ceremony, but I kind of wonder if I don't...will I feel like I really finished, ya know? My mom really wants to see me graduate.....I don't know....I also feel like (in a way) an associates degree is no big deal, so why make a big deal of it....but on the other hand I have worked my A$$ off for it....

Thoughts?!?! Suggestions.....?!?!? Thanks!

If somebody is going attend because you are graduating, then go ahead. Nobody was really interested in attending my college grad ceremony, so I didn't go. Plus I had to stay behind a year to re-do a few courses so I didn't feel really close to my classmates.

High school was a different story....

No big deal?? after the hours and dedication you've put into it??? I say One small step for man, one giant leap for Geek kind :D

Go ahead and go...let your mom see you. remember every time you can stand up high and be recognized for any achievement...you mom is there with you being just as proud. you'll be glad you did in the end.

If you go, you probably won't regret it. If you don't you might look back someday and wish you had. It is a nice way to close that chapter in your life. I'm glad I went to mine.

Not one single member of my family showed up when I got my HS Dip. Granted, it was from Adult Ed, but they still should have shown up.

If your mom wants to see it, humor her. Remember, you're her little girl, and she wants to be proud of you.

Plus, she can embarass you in front of people she'll never have to see again! ;)

id go if you want ... its something you worked hard for .. like my 1k posts .. i didnt do it to get 1k .. i did them to be someone .. and make things better .. and your work was for a better life and job .. id say a big slap of 5 feel good you did it .. and congrats .. now with this degree get a new home puter so you can come online more :)

Go. Even if family or friends aren't there you still have classmates who shared the struggle with you. I didn't want to go when I finished my first degree but really enjoyed the moment. I'm sooooo glad I went. :D

You really should go. I am In almost the same position and when I finish I have to go just to be able to take that deep breath. Everyone else graduating are young enough to be my children but I gotta go. Congratulations!!!! :D

If people want to see you receving your diploma than go! Assos Degree or not its still a degree that you worked your aZZ of to get! :p

You have to go! I didn't got to mine and now, 30 years later, I'm sorry I didn't!

Not that it's that big a deal but, it's another one of those life experiences that you can either sit back later and wonder how it would have felt or go for it and always have the memory of that day.

The type of degree is irrelevant. The fact is, you did it!

I wouldn't take your degree so lightly!
You worked your bunns off for it..going to classes when dog tired, doing homework when everyone else was going out, prolly driving in crappy weather just to GET there, etc.. etc.. Be Proud of your accomplishment, you earned it yourself, and deserve to stand up there and be recognized!

LadyTech is right. I didn't go to college until after 8 years in the army, and ONLY got an A.A. But went to graduation anyway just for the closure. It urned out to be alot of fun and really meant something. You won't regret it if you do go.

I went to mine, even though it was only a one year trade course from a pi$$ant school. Wasn't much special for me, but let me tell you, it was one of the defining moments of my parents' lives. I had fun--but my Mom was on Cloud 9. (I don't think she ever expected to see the day...)

You have busted your butt so go, if not then you will regret it forever
